Download or read book World War II Infantry Tactics written by Stephen Bull and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-05-27 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite all technological advances, final mastery of any battlefield depends upon the tight-knit group of footsoldiers trained to manoeuvre, shoot and dig in. This first of a two-part study examines the methods by which the Western infantry of World War II - the German, British and US armies - actually brought their firepower to bear. Drawing upon period training manuals for the evolving theory, and on personal memoirs for the individual practice, this first book covers the organization and tactics of the squad of ten or a dozen men, and the platoon of three or four squads. The text is illustrated with contemporary photographs and diagrams, and with colour plates bringing to life the movement of soldiers on the battlefield.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marine Corps Interim Publication MCIP 3-10A.4i Marine Rifle Squad June 2019 Marine Corps Interim Publication (MCIP) 3-10A.4i, Marine Rifle Squad, contains tactics, techniques, and procedures for rifle squad employment and captures lessons learned from recent decades of conflict. It covers a range of missions that Marine rifle squads deal with today or may deal with tomorrow. Despite this extended coverage, MCIP 3-10A.4i is not intended to be all-encompassing. There are many aspects of rifle squad operations that are not detailed herein because a specific publication already exists for that purpose; to cover it would be redundant. It also does not address force structure and weapon system changes anticipated over the next several years unless sufficient experimentation and testing have already been conducted to generate best practices that are ready to be codified in doctrine. This publication does serve, however, as the basic warfighting squad publication and is to be used in conjunction with the appropriate infantry platoon, company, and battalion publications, as well as other publications that relate to the conduct of ground operations. This publication is intended for Marine Corps infantry company and below leadership, to include units serving as provisional infantry. It is a foundational document that assists in the preparation and execution of squad-level operations in the current operational environment in order to accomplish their assigned missions. SEABEES: NATIONAL INSTRUMENT OF POWER PROJECTION (2013) INTRODUCTION: INTRODUCTION The Seabees of the United States Navy were born in the dark days following Pearl Harbor when the task of building victory from defeat seemed almost insurmountable. The Seabees were created in answer to a crucial demand for builders who could fight. Using sailors to build shore-based facilities; however, was not a new idea. Ancient Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans did it. In more recent times, from the earliest days ofthe United States Navy, sailors who were handy with tools occasionally did minor construction chores at land bases. After the 7 December 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and the United States entry into the war, the use of civilian labor in war zones became impractical. Under international law civilians were not permitted to resist enemy military attack. Resistance meant summary execution as guerrillas. The need for a militarized Naval Construction Force to build advance bases in the war zone was self-evident. Therefore, Rear Admiral Ben Moreell determined to activate, organize, and man Navy construction units. On 28 December 1941, he requested specific authority to carry out this decision, and on 5 January 1942, he gained authority from the Bureau of Navigation to recruit men from the construction trades for assignment to a Naval Construction Regiment composed of three Naval Construction Battalions. This is the actual beginning of the renowned Seabees, who obtained their designation from the initial letters of Construction Battalion. Admiral Moreell personally furnished them with their official motto: Construimus, Batuimus -- "We Build, We Fight."
