Book Low Reynolds Number Aerodynamics

Download or read book Low Reynolds Number Aerodynamics written by Thomas J. Mueller and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current interest in a variety of low Reynolds number applications has focused attention on the design and evaluation of efficient airfoil sections at chord Reynolds numbers from about 100,000 to about 1,000,000. These applications include remotely piloted vehicles (RPVs) at high altitudes, sailplanes, ultra-light man-carrying/man powered aircraft, mini-RPVs at low altitudes and wind turbines/propellers. The purpose of this conference was to bring together those researchers who have been active in areas closely related to this subject. All of the papers presented are research type papers. Main topics are: Airfoil Design and Analysis, Computational Studies, Stability and Transition, Laminar Separation Bubble, Steady and Unsteady Wind Tunnel Experiments and Flight Experiments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports the latest development and trends in the low Re number aerodynamics, transition from laminar to turbulence, unsteady low Reynolds number flows, experimental studies, numerical transition modelling, control of low Re number flows, and MAV wing aerodynamics. The contributors to each chapter are fluid mechanics and aerodynamics scientists and engineers with strong expertise in their respective fields. As a whole, the studies presented here reveal important new directions toward the realization of applications of MAV and wind turbine blades.

Book Flow at Ultra High Reynolds and Rayleigh Numbers

Download or read book Flow at Ultra High Reynolds and Rayleigh Numbers written by Russell J. Donnelly and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientists have learned to use liquid and gaseous helium to overcome the limitations imposed by the usual wind and water tunnels for testing the performance of aircraft or the behavior of the atmosphere. This book covers fundamental studies of the turbulence problem, practical applications of turbulence, superfluid turbulence, cryogenic turbulence research, and new types of miniature flow instrumentation, all which are crucial for high Reynolds number research. This state-of-the-art presentation will interest physicists in fluid dynamics, engineers working with turbulent flows, and naval and aerospace engineers testing realistic parameter ranges.

Book Simplified Method for Determination of Critical Height of Distributed Roughness for Boundary layer Transition at Mach Numbers from 0 to 5

Download or read book Simplified Method for Determination of Critical Height of Distributed Roughness for Boundary layer Transition at Mach Numbers from 0 to 5 written by Albert L. Braslow and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The method has been applied to various types of configurations in several wind-tunnel investigations conducted by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics at Mach numbers up to 4, and in all cases the calculated roughness height caused premature boundary-layer transition for the range of test conditions.

Book Progress in Aeronautical Sciences

Download or read book Progress in Aeronautical Sciences written by D. Küchemann and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-13 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Aeronautical Sciences, Volume 10 provides information pertinent to the development in aeronautical sciences. This book discusses a variety of topics, including thermoelasticity, turbulent boundary, as well as the manufacturing methods, reliability, problem areas, and applications under development in fluidic systems. Organized into six chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the theoretical problems of elasticity. This text then discusses the state of research in the complex fields of turbulent boundary layers with fluid injections. Other chapters consider as well the problems of supersonic flow past wings and bodies. This book discusses as well the flow in hypersonic wakes in ionized gases. The reader is also introduced to the possible applications of the compressible turbulent boundary layer with fluid injection. The final chapter discusses the components used in fluidic systems, which are described with emphasis on their general system of operation and general properties. This book is a valuable resource for engineers.
