Book Revitalizing Christianity Study Guide

Download or read book Revitalizing Christianity Study Guide written by Charlie Webster and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Revitalizing Christianity takes the reader through ten areas where Christians misunderstand highly motivating Christian truths. This study guide is designed to work with an individual or group interested in seriously studying the Bible with the help of that book. Many Christians have doubts about the reality of God. Attacks, especially in the realm of science, have many questioning whether the God of the Bible is real. Without getting bogged down in the science, Mr. Webster provides simple assurance that the God of Christianity is the only real God. But the God of Christianity has gained a terrible reputation, and these books address how understanding the biblical message from God's perspective reveals a God who really is good and wonderful and even exciting. Mr. Webster addresses misunderstandings about Christian love and the nature of sin, saving faith, Christian hope (heaven), God's plan, the role of suffering, the role of prayer, the role of Christian forgiveness, and the role of the church, taking the reader back to the Bible over and over to show that Christianity was always meant to be exciting and good.

Book LET S REVITALIZE CHRISTIANITY

Download or read book LET S REVITALIZE CHRISTIANITY written by Warren F. Hannas and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-01-27 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LET’S REVITALIZE CHRISTIANITY is a book designed to give people what I have heard many folks ask for: How can Christianity give me a better way of life? It is designed to give a different slant to Christianity than one would get in a sectarian church, and it is based entirely on the New Testament of the New International Version of the Holy Bible. After a brief introduction many problems in our society are mentioned to which the existing churches do not seem to give solution or closure. Since many folks have given up attending church, we give good reasons why attending church is a good thing for us. What is fellowship, and how can we painlessly learn to love someone we don’t really care very much about? Why is Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace? And can all of us be Princes and Princesses of Peace? We share a small study of prayer, and how we can help prayer work. There are two extremely important New Testament prayers. We show how the Lord’s Prayer can be a guide to effective living, and we show how the Gethsemane Prayer is the birth of Christianity, and how it instills in all of us what Jesus wants for our interactive relationship with Him and with God. What is freedom? And what’s the formula for achieving freedom? A short epilogue sums up the entire revitalization concept. And finally, we give a scriptural account of the life of Christ simply as an item of interest. For example, we cite Christ’s lineage as reported in Luke 3:23-38. All Christians should cherish this book.

Download or read book For a New Generation written by Lee D. Kricher and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2016-08-02 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New Generation Church is a church with attendees whose average age is at least as young as the average age of the community in which the church exists. Any church can become a New Generation Church that reaches and continues to reach the next generation. The Psalmist writes: We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders. (Psalm 78:4 NLT) No Christian would purposely hide the timeless truths of Christianity from the next generation. But often we do, not because of the substance of our church, but because of the approach of our church. For A New Generation is not about changing your church’s statement of faith or core beliefs. It is about evaluating and changing, as needed, your church’s programs, ministries and practices in order to more effectively connect with and stay connected with the next generation. Written for both church leaders and members, For a New Generation presents 5 practical strategies that will lay a foundation for a church to thrive for generations to come. It is based on the assumption that accepting the status quo is the greatest threat to your church’s core mission and, perhaps, to the long-term survival of your church.

Download or read book Queer Virtue written by The Reverend Elizabeth M. Edman and published by Beacon Press. This book was released on 2017-05-23 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LGBTQ people are a gift to the Church and have the potential to revitalize Christianity. As an openly lesbian Episcopal priest and professional advocate for LGBTQ justice, the Reverend Elizabeth Edman has spent her career grappling with the core tenets of her faith. After deep reflection on her tradition, Edman is struck by the realization that her queer identity has taught her more about how to be a good Christian than the church. In Queer Virtue, Edman posits that Christianity, at its scriptural core, incessantly challenges its adherents to rupture false binaries, to “queer” lines that pit people against one another. Thus, Edman asserts that Christianity, far from being hostile to queer people, is itself inherently queer. Arguing from the heart of scripture, she reveals how queering Christianity—that is, disrupting simplistic ways of thinking about self and other—can illuminate contemporary Christian faith. Pushing well past the notion that “Christian love = tolerance,” Edman offers a bold alternative: the recognition that queer people can help Christians better understand their fundamental calling and the creation of sacred space where LGBTQ Christians are seen as gifts to the church. By bringing queer ethics and Christian theology into conversation, Edman also shows how the realities of queer life demand a lived response of high moral caliber—one that resonates with the ethical path laid down by Christianity. Lively and impassioned, Edman proposes that queer experience be celebrated as inherently valuable, ethically virtuous, and illuminating the sacred. A rich and nuanced exploration, Queer Virtue mines the depths of Christianity’s history, mission, and core theological premises to call all Christians to a more authentic and robust understanding of their faith.
