Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Encyclopedic in scope, Reversibility of Chronic Degenerative Disease and Hypersensitivity, Volume 2: The Effects of Environmental Pollutants on the Organ System draws deeply from clinical histories of thousands of patients. It focuses on clinical syndromes within the musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and respiratory systems. The book explores mechanisms of chemical sensitivity and chronic degenerative disease as well as the triggering agents of musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and sino-respiratory diseases. It then discusses triggering agents such as natural gas, pesticides, solvents, and micotoxins. The authors include new data for indoor and outdoor air pollution that harms the chemically sensitive and chronic degenerative diseased patient as well as new data for breath analysis. They also describe the physiology of chemical sensitivity and chronic degenerative diseases, their manifestations, diagnosis, and approaches to reverse dysfunction. The second volume of a five-volume set, the book provides an essential resource for health care providers diagnosing and treating chemical sensitivity and chronic degenerative disease.

Book Reversibility of Chronic Disease and Hypersensitivity Volume 5

Download or read book Reversibility of Chronic Disease and Hypersensitivity Volume 5 written by William J. Rea and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 902 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The clinical approaches to the chronic degenerative diseases that drain our resources, and compromise our well-being, have become almost exclusively symptom-focused. The common wisdom is that they are idiopathic with final outcomes to be managed rather than prevented or cured. That they are potentially reversible rarely enters any discussion between doctor and patient. Reversibility of Chronic Disease and Hypersensitivity, Volume 5: Treatment Options of Chemical Sensitivity, the final volume of this set, offers a much different perspective on chronic degenerative disease; one that disputes the idiopathic label attached to most, as well as the usual fatalistic prognosis.

Book Hormesis in Health and Disease

Download or read book Hormesis in Health and Disease written by Suresh I. S. Rattan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-05-16 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some mild stresses have positive effects on survival and aging as shown in animal models. There is also a large body of research that demonstrates these hormetic effects on aging, health, and resistance to severe stresses and diseases in human beings. However, the data are dispersed in the literature and are not always interpreted as hormetic effects. Hormesis in Health and Disease reviews the evidence for hormesis in humans as achieved through a variety of stresses or stimuli, and discusses mechanisms of hormesis and its ethical and legal issues. Divided into four sections, this book presents the current state of research, including questions, debates, doubts, and controversies in hormesis. Section I covers the history and terminology of hormesis, describing its main features and providing necessary background information. Section II shows that hormetic effects can be caused by various stresses—including physical exercise, nutritional components, fasting, micronutrients, irradiation, heat, ischemia, and mental challenge—and can be observed both in organs and at the organism level. Section III reviews possible mechanisms of hormesis that have been elucidated at this point. Section IV discusses the wider consequences hormesis may have for everyone. This book demonstrates that health beneficial hormetic effects do exist in human beings. It offers information to inspire key players to initiate new strategies to elucidate the strengths and limits of the dual nature of stress.

Book Air Pollution and the Electromagnetic Phenomena as Incitants

Download or read book Air Pollution and the Electromagnetic Phenomena as Incitants written by William J. Rea and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of electromagnetic sensitivity is the new epidemic of the 21st century, and can cause disease of the automatic nerve system in any part of the body. This is as a result of chemical sensitivity, in which over 80,000 chemicals are involved, resulting in innumerable combinations. A cursory understanding of the combinations can help clinicians partially understand the associated problems and thus help in the diagnosis and treatment of electromagnetic sensitivities. But a basic understanding of environmentally induced illness and healing must first be understood by the clinicians before diseases occur such as cardiac arrhythmia, muscle spasms, and nerve pain.

Book The Inflammation Cure Cookbook

Download or read book The Inflammation Cure Cookbook written by William Joel Meggs and published by Abbott Press. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Inflammation Cure, published in 2003 and favorably reviewed by the New York Times and Library Review, provided five scientifically verified ways to reduce the personal risk of diseases related to inflammation, including Alzheimers disease, heart attacks, strokes, obesity, and arthritis. Even the rate at which we age can be slowed with the proper, healthy diet and an active lifestyle. In this sequel, The Inflammation Cure Cookbook, registered dietitian nutritionist Dr. Kimberly Myers and physician Dr. William Meggs combine their expertise to produce delectable recipes that prove healthy eating can also be tasty cuisine. By adding key foods to the daily diet, such as salmon, other fatty fish, nuts, green tea, and olive and canola oils, its possible to counteract the negative effects of the Western diet. They recommend using herbs and spices that have been shown to have significant anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, garlic, onions, apples, oranges, and broccoli have strong health-promoting properties. Since diet is only one component of a healthy lifestyle, there is an extensive discussion of other ways beyond diet to reduce the risk of diseases related to aging. Of particular importance to our aging population is maintaining an active lifestyle that can delay the degenerative changes related to aging and insure increased years of healthy living. Informative and detailed, The Inflammation Cure Cookbook can help anyone interested in optimizing their health and longevity.

  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 2020-07-01
  • ISBN : 0309670489
  • Pages : 427 pages

Download or read book Temporomandibular Disorders written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2020-07-01 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs), are a set of more than 30 health disorders associated with both the temporomandibular joints and the muscles and tissues of the jaw. TMDs have a range of causes and often co-occur with a number of overlapping medical conditions, including headaches, fibromyalgia, back pain and irritable bowel syndrome. TMDs can be transient or long-lasting and may be associated with problems that range from an occasional click of the jaw to severe chronic pain involving the entire orofacial region. Everyday activities, including eating and talking, are often difficult for people with TMDs, and many of them suffer with severe chronic pain due to this condition. Common social activities that most people take for granted, such as smiling, laughing, and kissing, can become unbearable. This dysfunction and pain, and its associated suffering, take a terrible toll on affected individuals, their families, and their friends. Individuals with TMDs often feel stigmatized and invalidated in their experiences by their family, friends, and, often, the health care community. Misjudgments and a failure to understand the nature and depths of TMDs can have severe consequences - more pain and more suffering - for individuals, their families and our society. Temporomandibular Disorders: Priorities for Research and Care calls on a number of stakeholders - across medicine, dentistry, and other fields - to improve the health and well-being of individuals with a TMD. This report addresses the current state of knowledge regarding TMD research, education and training, safety and efficacy of clinical treatments of TMDs, and burden and costs associated with TMDs. The recommendations of Temporomandibular Disorders focus on the actions that many organizations and agencies should take to improve TMD research and care and improve the overall health and well-being of individuals with a TMD.
