But certain Creatures are about to find that there is more to the dark than blood and bite. "Her name...is Alexandria Stone." These are some of the last words Xavier Delacroix hears from his beloved Eleanor Black...just before she bursts into a Lycan Creature. And if this wasn't enough to rattle Xavier's brilliant mind, other Vampires--including Dracula himself--have become elusive and are speaking vaguely about Xavier's supposedly brilliant blood. But with a human to find, Lycans to kill, and a World to protect, Xavier is not so sure what to believe anymore--or who."--Page 4 of cover.

Book excerpt: Your success is not by what you have and own or what you are involved with in your social life. Your success is by what you are doing here with the spiritual life through the physical presence. It's not about where you're at with what you have. It's about where you're at with who you are, then you will have everything that you need. Do not sell your life for some simple-minded success. Reality is an illusion that must be recognized and overcome in order to make it out. Humans must reach a deeper point on focusing past the beliefs of what they think and know as being true. We live in a reality where people believe that truth is found from the media of an Internet revolution, and that is far from accurate. Humans accept the world from the reality in which they are presented. The only way to see the truth in the right form is from within. The soul is what makes a person human, and the soul holds true that the physical mind can barely comprehend. You have to be spiritually developed outside of society for your mind to be evolved in processing and handling the path of light through your soul. It is through the soul that you discover and become conscious of understanding the deepest truths. People who strictly live in the world will never come to know their souls. The soul is the only way to true wisdom and eternal life. Do you want to become less of who you are, or do you want to become more than what you were led to believe that you are? Humans must always live in the light of who they are outside of this world. Otherwise, they're just living a baseless existence following under the guidance of wickedness to an impending eternal death.

But after the fallout, the nuclear winter, which was supposed to last for no more than 10 years, has lasted nearly fifty with no end in sight. Those who survived the initial devastation have moved underground and now live in abandoned mines and bunkers, only going to the surface to scavenge and look for signs of the earth returning to normal. But those that do venture to the surface must be careful of the Ash Walkers, who roam the wastelands and feed on human flesh. Their deformities are equaled only by their violence. Will humanity ever see the sun again? Can we ever return to the surface for good? Only time will tell.

Book Return of the Black Death

Download or read book Return of the Black Death written by Susan Scott and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-12-10 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If the twenty-first century seems an unlikely stage for the return of a 14th-century killer, the authors of Return of the Black Death argue that the plague, which vanquished half of Europe, has only lain dormant, waiting to emerge again—perhaps, in another form. At the heart of their chilling scenario is their contention that the plague was spread by direct human contact (not from rat fleas) and was, in fact, a virus perhaps similar to AIDS and Ebola. Noting the periodic occurrence of plagues throughout history, the authors predict its inevitable re-emergence sometime in the future, transformed by mass mobility and bioterrorism into an even more devastating killer.

Book excerpt: In New York Times-bestselling science fiction epic Out of the Dark, Earth beat back an alien invasion. Now we've got to make sure they don't come back, in Into the Light. The Shongairi conquered Earth. In mere minutes, half the human race died, and our cities lay in shattered ruins. But the Shongairi didn’t expect the survivors’ tenacity. And, crucially, they didn’t know that Earth harbored two species of intelligent, tool-using bipeds. One of them was us. The other, long-lived and lethal, was hiding in the mountains of eastern Europe, the subject of fantasy and legend. When they emerged and made alliance with humankind, the invading aliens didn’t stand a chance. Now Earth is once again ours. Aided by the advanced tech the aliens left behind, we’re rebuilding as fast as we can. Meanwhile, a select few of our blood-drinking immortals are on their way to the Shongairi homeworld, having commandeered one of the alien starships...the planet-busting kind. Book The Black Earth

Download or read book The Black Earth written by Igori Arcadie Krupenikov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-23 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soil is the Earth’s living skin. It provides anchorage for roots, holds water long enough for plants to make use of it and the nutrients that sustain life – otherwise the Earth would be as barren as Mars. It is home to myriad micro-organisms and armies of microscopic animals as well as the familiar earthworm that accomplish biochemical transformations from fixing atmospheric nitrogen to recycling wastes; it receives and process all fresh water, provides the foundations for our built environment; and comprises the biggest global carbon store that we know how to manage. This book is about the best soil in the world - the black earth or chernozem: how it is being degraded by farming and how it may be farmed sustainably. Industrialisation of farming has laid bare contradictions between the unforgiving laws of ecology and economics. Soil organic matter is the fuel that powers soil systems and the cement that holds the soil together – and in place – but agriculture is burning it up faster than it is being formed: even the chernozem cannot long survive this treatment. Here is the evidence for this trend and, based on long-term field experiments, ecological principles for sustainable agriculture that can reverse the trend and, at the same time, feed the world. Unlike other volumes in the series, this is not an edited collection of scientific papers. The authors have chosen the classical monograph to be near to the reader from beginning to end - to convey their anxiety about the state of the land and their optimism about the possibility of retrieving the situation by changing the social and political approach to the land so as to provide the necessary incentives for sustainable land use and management.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I guess I always felt even if the world came to an end, McDonald's still would be open. High school sophomore Miranda's disbelief turns to fear in a split second when an asteroid knocks the moon closer to Earth, like "one marble hits another." The result is catastrophic. How can her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis are wiping out the coasts, earthquakes are rocking the continents, and volcanic ash is blocking out the sun? As August turns dark and wintery in northeastern Pennsylvania, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove. Told in a year's worth of journal entries, this heart-pounding story chronicles Miranda's struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all--hope--in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world. An extraordinary series debut Susan Beth Pfeffer has written several companion novels to Life As We Knew It, including The Dead and the Gone, This World We Live In, and The Shade of the Moon.
