Book Soviet Research on the Transport of Intense Relativistic Electron Beams Through High pressure Air

Download or read book Soviet Research on the Transport of Intense Relativistic Electron Beams Through High pressure Air written by Nikita Wells and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soviet research on the propagation of intense relativistic electron beams (IREB) through fairly high-pressure air (pressure range 0.1 to 760 Torr) since the early 1970s has included the study of the plasma channel created by the passage of the electron beam through air, the resistive hose instability and its effect on beam propagation, the effect of self-fields, current enhancement, gas expansion, return currents, inherent beam energy spread, and other factors. This report covers Soviet developments in IREB propagation through air where the beam is not focused by external magnetic fields. The information was obtained from Soviet open-source publications with emphasis given to the last ten years of beam propagation in the Soviet Union. The volume of papers published on this subject in recent years indicates a significant increase in Soviet research in this area.

Book Magnetic Field Induced Enhancement of Relativistic Electron Beam Energy Deposition

Download or read book Magnetic Field Induced Enhancement of Relativistic Electron Beam Energy Deposition written by D. Mosher and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collisional transport of relativistic electron beams in dense, magnetized, high-Z plasmas is characterized by a perturbation solution of the relativistic Boltzmann equation with a Fokker-Plank collision term in the limit of small beam-electron mean-free-path or gyroradius. The general formulation allows for arbitrary magnetic-field, electric-field, and plasma geometries. Analytic solutions in 1-D yield energy-deposition profiles for a magnetized plasma slab. (Author).

Book Methods in Nonlinear Plasma Theory

Download or read book Methods in Nonlinear Plasma Theory written by Ronald Davidson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Methods in Nonlinear Plasma Theory is from lectures given in graduate classes in both University of Maryland and University of California at Berkeley. To be able to understand fully the contents in this book, the reader is assumed to be a graduate student with background of classical physics and linear plasma waves and instabilities. This text is divided into two major parts. Part I deals with the coherent nonlinear phenomena, while Part II discusses the turbulent nonlinear phenomena. Six chapters comprise Part I, where basic equations and methods are described and discussed. Some of these methods are Vlasov-Maxwell equations and Korteweg-de Vries equation. Part II meanwhile has eight chapters that discuss frameworks and theories for weak plasma turbulence. Specifically, the weak turbulence theory is presented as it is applied to electromagnetic wave-particle interactions, nonlinear wave-wave interactions, and nonlinear wave-particle interactions. This book is a useful reference for students and researchers in the study of classical physics and plasma theory.
