Book Rediscovering the American Covenant

Download or read book Rediscovering the American Covenant written by Mark Burrell Burrell and published by . This book was released on 2022-06-28 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America is in decline. What is the cause, and what must be done to re-establish our founding principles? Nothing in print today clearly answers these questions from a biblical standpoint. Until now. Mark Burrell's Rediscovering the American Covenant provides fresh light on biblical principles for civil government and the citizenship duty all Christians have in the communities in which they live. These principles are extracted empirically from the Bible, showing how they informed the actions of the founders in 1776, thus establishing our national covenant. The simple, yet critical blueprint they followed is described--the same blueprint needed today to restore America's founding principles. The author concludes with a call to action for Christians and the church, to rediscover the American covenant and fulfill the citizenship duty we have as Christians. A roadmap makes this content actionable. All the opposing arguments aimed to dimmish America are addressed, some in fresh ways. Given the breadth of the material, full 2-page illustrations are used to set the tone for each chapter. Additional illustrations draw the reader in and help connect concepts to the active citizenship duty Christians have. A 2-page theological monograph is also included, incorporating key governing principles. The aim of this book is to present a thorough biblical argument for: 1. Active citizenship as a vital part of the Christian faith (including sharing the Gospel). 2. How this duty informed the actions of the founders as they codified and declared our American national covenant. 3. Steps for Christians to re-engage politically, to restore their local community and America to a God honoring nation.

Book excerpt: In Japan Restored, New York Times bestselling author Clyde Prestowitz envisions post-bubble Japan in the year 2050, when the country's economic prosperity will have made it a world leader in every area. In 1979, the book Japan as Number One: Lessons for America by Harvard University professor Ezra Vogel caused a sensation in the United States by pointing out that Japan was surpassing America as world economic leader; to this day, it remains the all-time bestselling non-fiction book by a Western author in Japan. The book was timely: Japan's subsequent "bubble era" of the 1980s saw the country booming. But since the economic bubble burst at the start of the 1990s, Japan has been in decline. Japan Restored takes up where Vogel left off. Written as a vision of Japan in the year 2050, Prestowitz looks back to the mid-2010s as such a low point for Japan that a special reform commission was set up that helped the country regain its former position as a leader in technology, in business, and geopolitically. Looking at education, innovation, the role of women, corporate organization, energy, infrastructure, domestic government, and international alliances, Prestowitz draws up a fascinating and controversial blueprint for the future success of Japan. In wake of the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo and the economic chaos caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Japan Restored is as timely as the 1979 book that inspired it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Protestant evangelical Christian schools are the fastest-growing segment of American private school education. Despite their notable individual autonomy, these schools have retained a consistent belief system and mission over several decades. Private religious schools can be traced to our nation's earliest origins. Why is it that these unique educational institutions arose in twentieth-century America and have continued to thrive? A Christian America Restored seeks to delve into the beginnings of private Christian schools and discovers that while they are relatively new on the educational landscape of America, their roots are actually quite deep, connecting with the ongoing dreams of our nation's conservative evangelicals.

You could say we're the #1 nation at being the best at greatness. But as perfect as America is in every single way, America is broken! And we can't exchange it because we're 236 years past the 30-day return window. Look around--we don't make anything anymore, we've mortgaged our future to China, and the Apologist-in-Chief goes on world tours just to bow before foreign leaders. Worse, the L.A. Four Seasons Hotel doesn't even have a dedicated phone button for the Spa. You have to dial an extension! Where did we lose our way?! It's high time we restored America to the greatness it never lost! Luckily, America Again will singlebookedly pull this country back from the brink. It features everything from chapters, to page numbers, to fonts. Covering subject's ranging from healthcare ("I shudder to think where we'd be without the wide variety of prescription drugs to treat our maladies, such as think-shuddering") to the economy ("Life is giving us lemons, and we're shipping them to the Chinese to make our lemon-flavored leadonade") to food ("Feel free to deep fry this book-it's a rich source of fiber"), Stephen gives America the dose of truth it needs to get back on track.

Book excerpt: "I don't take responsibility at all." Those words of Donald Trump at a March 13, 2020, press conference are likely to be history's epitaph on his presidency. A huge swath of Americans has put their faith in Trump, and Trump only, because they see the rest of the country building a future that doesn’t have a place for them. If they would risk their lives for Trump in a pandemic, they will certainly risk the stability of American democracy. They brought the Trumpocalypse upon the country, and a post-Trumpocalypse country will have to find a way either to reconcile them to democracy - or to protect democracy from them. In Trumpocalypse, David Frum looks at what happens when a third of the electorate refuses to abandon Donald Trump, no matter what he does. Those voters aren’t looking for policy wins. They’re seeking cultural revenge. It is not enough to defeat Donald Trump on election day 2020. Even if Trump peacefully departs office, the trauma he inflicted will distort American and world politics for years to come. Americans must start from where they are, build from what they have, to repair the damage Trump inflicted on the country, to amend the wrongs that, under Trump, they inflicted upon each other. Americans can do better. David Frum shows how—and inspires all readers of all points of view to believe again in the possibilities of American life. Trumpocalypse is both a warning of danger and a guide to reform that will be read and discussed for years to come.

Book Restoring America One County at a Time

Download or read book Restoring America One County at a Time written by Joel McDurmon and published by . This book was released on 2019-09-15 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Restoring America One County at a Time is an action manual for anyone concerned about restoring individual freedom in our country. But it's much more than just an action manual. It boldly represents the type of iconoclastic history lessons, biblical studies, moral challenges, unpopular truths, and reformational remedies a restored Christian republic will require. This book is a training manual designed to empower your whole education and worldview. It is for the serious only. It will not do to content ourselves with lip service to patriotism, faith, and freedom. We must have real, substantial plans and real, practical action items. These must be clear and they must be broad, addressing every single area of life. Restoring America One County at a Time is an inspiring and practical vision of America based upon the Bible, covering ten major areas of life: Education, Welfare, Local Government, State Government, Taxation, Money and Banking, Free Markets, Courts, War and the Military, and Executive Power.Every four years, Americans line up at their local polling places to cast their ballots for President. Most of them believe this is the most important vote they make -- the very essence of their voice in American politics. Yet, while they haggle over which party's middleman will sit in the White House, the civil government continues its unimpeded invasion into the personal lives of every citizen. Most Americans are unwittingly expanding the State's power simply by believing that real change begins at the national level. Restoring America One County at a Time shatters this misconception, exploring the destructive path government centralization has taken in ten crucial areas of American life. It also provides concrete advice on how families and individuals can reverse the national trends that threaten the life, liberty, and property of every American.National change need not happen at the national level. This well-researched analysis of American history establishes that real change cannot happen through coercive centralized controls, no matter how good one's intentions may be. Radical change at the national level must flow naturally from a careful return to biblical prescriptions at the local level. If you're tired of the right-wing, left-wing party see-saw that never seems to make any difference. If you're tired of the talk radio griping that never really offers any solutions. If you want to work for significant change now, find out how in this incisive book.

  • Author : Randy E. Barnett

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Constitution found in school textbooks and under glass in Washington is not the one enforced today by the Supreme Court. In Restoring the Lost Constitution, Randy Barnett argues that since the nation's founding, but especially since the 1930s, the courts have been cutting holes in the original Constitution and its amendments to eliminate the parts that protect liberty from the power of government. From the Commerce Clause, to the Necessary and Proper Clause, to the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, to the Privileges or Immunities Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, the Supreme Court has rendered each of these provisions toothless. In the process, the written Constitution has been lost. Barnett establishes the original meaning of these lost clauses and offers a practical way to restore them to their central role in constraining government: adopting a "presumption of liberty" to give the benefit of the doubt to citizens when laws restrict their rightful exercises of liberty. He also provides a new, realistic and philosophically rigorous theory of constitutional legitimacy that justifies both interpreting the Constitution according to its original meaning and, where that meaning is vague or open-ended, construing it so as to better protect the rights retained by the people. As clearly argued as it is insightful and provocative, Restoring the Lost Constitution forcefully disputes the conventional wisdom, posing a powerful challenge to which others must now respond. This updated edition features an afterword with further reflections on individual popular sovereignty, originalist interpretation, judicial engagement, and the gravitational force that original meaning has exerted on the Supreme Court in several recent cases.

Book excerpt: The history we can't afford to forget. At last, the definitive history of supply-side economics—an incredibly timely work that reveals the foundations of America's prosperity when those very foundations are under attack. In the riveting, groundbreaking book Econoclasts, historian Brian Domitrovic tells the remarkable story of the economists, journalists, Washington staffers, and (ultimately) politicians who showed America how to get out of the 1970s stagflation and ushered in an unprecedented quarter-century run of growth and opportunity. Based on the author's years of archival research, Econoclasts is a masterful narrative history in the tradition of Amity Shlaes's The Forgotten Man and John Steele Gordon's An Empire of Wealth.
