Book Neutron Response Analysis in Pulsed Coupled core Reactors

Download or read book Neutron Response Analysis in Pulsed Coupled core Reactors written by George C. Hopkins and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Los Alamos Coupled Reactor Experiment, some oscillatory deviations from the expected monotonic increase were observed in the rising portion of the passive core neutron density response. In the present study, a generalized multigroup point kinetics model is employed to analyze the experiment. Several approximations with respect to the number of energy groups, the existence of a reflector, and the between-core neutron distribution function were studied. For some approximations, anomalies similar to those experimentally noticed were observed in the passive core response.

Book A Monte Carlo Method for Ex core Neutron Response

Download or read book A Monte Carlo Method for Ex core Neutron Response written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Monte Carlo neutron transport kernel capability primarily for ex-core neutron response is described. The capability consists of the generation of a set of response kernels, which represent the neutron transport from the core to a specific ex-core volume. This is accomplished by tagging individual neutron histories from their initial source sites and tracking them throughout the problem geometry, tallying those that interact in the geometric regions of interest. These transport kernels can subsequently be combined with any number of core power distributions to determine detector response for a variety of reactor Thus, the transport kernels are analogous to an integrated adjoint response. Examples of pressure vessel response and ex-core neutron detector response are provided to illustrate the method.

Book Nuclear Reactor Theory

Download or read book Nuclear Reactor Theory written by George I. Bell and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a part of North Africa where, within miles, the backdrop can change dramatically from snow-blasted mountains to wind-scoured dunes live the Berber people of the Atlas Mountains. In the third book of her trilogy on African women, world-renowned photojournalist Margaret Courtney-Clarke examines the difficult lives and remarkable arts of Berber women. As modern times and modern warfare in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia have encroached on their centuries-old traditions, Berber women have begun to give up the old ways. Imazighen: The Vanishing Traditions of Berber Women is a record of a quickly disappearing way of life. As in her earlier books, Ndebele: The Art of an African Tribe and African Canvas: The Art of West African Women, Courtney-Clarke succeeds in capturing the spirit of the women by experiencing their world from season to season and by respecting their values and traditions. Through photographs, interviews, and observations, Courtney-Clarke documents the Berber women as they stoically carry water and firewood on their backs for miles of rocky terrain. And she records the beauty they have magically produced in their lives - through their spinning and weaving and their carefully coiled pottery - a metaphor for survival and creativity. Geraldine Brooks, award-winning journalist and an expert on life in the Middle East, accompanied Courtney-Clarke on her last trip to North Africa, and has written moving, thoughtful essays on the struggle of existence among the Berbers. With a glossary of Berber terms and a detailed map of the region, this book is not only a handsomely illustrated volume of the triumph of the arts of the Berber women, but a dramatic record of a people yielding to the pressures of the twentieth century.

Book Sensitivity of Ex core Neutron Detectors to Vibrations of PWR Fuel Assemblies

Download or read book Sensitivity of Ex core Neutron Detectors to Vibrations of PWR Fuel Assemblies written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The response of an ex-core neutron detector to fuel assembly vibrations in an 1150-MWe Westinghouse pressurized-water reactor (PWR) was determined by performing space-dependent reactor-kinetics calculations. The effect on the detector response of reducing the soluble-boron concentration in the coolant and fuel burnup over the first fuel cycle was also determined. The results of the calculations indicate that the ex-core neutron detectors are sensitive to fuel-assembly vibrations occurring over large spatial regions of the core, and that the detector response increases with fuel burnup and decreasing soluble-boron concentration.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second open access volume of the handbook series deals with detectors, large experimental facilities and data handling, both for accelerator and non-accelerator based experiments. It also covers applications in medicine and life sciences. A joint CERN-Springer initiative, the "Particle Physics Reference Library" provides revised and updated contributions based on previously published material in the well-known Landolt-Boernstein series on particle physics, accelerators and detectors (volumes 21A, B1,B2,C), which took stock of the field approximately one decade ago. Central to this new initiative is publication under full open access

Book Neutron Physics

  • Author : Karl-Heinrich Beckurts
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-06-29
  • ISBN : 3642876145

Download or read book Neutron Physics written by Karl-Heinrich Beckurts and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based upon a series of lectures I have occasionally given at the University of Gottingen since 1951. They were meant to introduce the students of experimental physics to the work in a neutron physics laboratory dealing with the problem of measuring neutron flux, diffusion length, Fermi age, effective neutron temperature, absorption cross sections and similar problems. Moreover, these lectures were intended to prepare the students for a subsequent lecture covering the physics of nuclear reactors. The original character of this series of lectures has been retained in the book. It is intended for use by students as well as anyone desiring to work on neutron physics measurements. The first half mainly covers the theory of neutron fields, i. e. essentially diffusion and slowing down theory. The second half is largely concerned with measurements in neutron fields. The appendix contains information and data which, in our experience, are frequently required in a neutron laboratory. The field of nuclear physics proper is briefly touched upon in the first two chapters, but only to the extent necessary for the understanding of the following chapters. The multitude of applications of neutron radiation has not been covered. The conclusion of this manuscript coincided with the end of my long period of activity with the Max-Planck-Institut fur Physik at Gottingen. To Professor HEISENBERG lowe thanks for his advice and suggestions for many of the subjects treated here.
