Book Health Policy in the Market State

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time of increasing demands on budgets, governments around the world are seeking to reduce health expenditure and introduce market-oriented reforms to the health sector. This is leading to profound shifts in the relationship between the state and the individual, as policy makers dismantle the welfare state and move towards a user-pays sytem. Health Policy in the Market State offers an overview of health policy in Australia, locating it within the broader context of power and interests analysis and shifts in government policy and public sector restructuring. It outlines the key issues in current health policy and assesses the strengths and weaknesses of specific policies and programs. Contributors include Ian Anderson and Maggie Brady, Mary Draper, Stephen Duckett, Liz Eckerman, Sophie Hill, Sharon Moore, Michael Muetzelfeldt, Janine Smith and Beth Wilson. Health Policy in the Market State is a valuable overview for students, as well as a comprehensive reference for health professionals and policy-makers.

As an administrator, Ellie Gaffney played a significant part in the development of hostel accommodation and primary health care for all Torres Strait Islanders. At all times she has been an eloquent and determined presenter of the real situation of Torres Strait Islanders. In recognition of her contribution to the Torres Strait and its people, Ellie was appointed a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. This memoir covers the period since the publication of her first book Somebody Now some twenty fours years ago. Book Grief After Suicide

    Book Details:
  • Author : John R. Jordan
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2011-01-19
  • ISBN : 1135849250
  • Pages : 817 pages

Download or read book Grief After Suicide written by John R. Jordan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2011-01-19 with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: here are over 38,000 suicide deaths each year in the United States alone, and the numbers in other countries suggest that suicide is a major public health problem around the world. A suicide leaves behind more victims than just the individual, as family, friends, co-workers, and the community can be impacted in many different and unique ways following a suicide. And yet there are very few professional resources that provide the necessary background, research, and tools to effectively work with the survivors of a suicide. This edited volume addresses the need for an up-to-date, professionally-oriented summary of the clinical and research literature on the impact of suicide bereavement on survivors. It is geared towards mental health professionals, grief counselors, clergy, and others who work with survivors in a professional capacity. Topics covered include the impact of suicide on survivors, interventions to provide bereavement care for survivors, examples of promising support programs for survivors, and developing a research, clinical, and programmatic agenda for survivors over the next 5 years and beyond.
