Book MARAGING STEEL PROJECT REVIEW 4TH

Download or read book MARAGING STEEL PROJECT REVIEW 4TH written by and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This memorandum summarizes the Fourth Maraging-Steel Project Review which was held on June 9 to 11, 1964, in Dayton Ohio. During the sessions, twenty-one scheduled and several unscheduled presentations were made by representatives of Government agencies, industrial concerns, and universities. Abstracts of these presentations are included in this memorandum preceded by a summary of the highlights of the various technical developments. Session I dealt with the mechanical properties of maraging-steels. The remaining four sessions dealt with general maraging steel evaluations, mechanical properties of welds and fabrication of 18 per cent nickel maraging-steels, fabrication and characteristics of maraging-steels, and alternate motor-case materials. During the past year, considerable effort has been expended to resolve certain technical problems relating primarily to 18 per cent nickel maraging-steel plate which has been under consideration for large booster cases. Among these problems have been banding and the resultant low short-transverse mechanical properties, associated with mill processing variables. The results of the research programs presented at this meeting shed much light on these and other problems and indicate that considerable progress has been made toward overcoming the production and fabrication problems of the maraging steels and other high-strength steels.

Book THIRD MARAGING STEEL PROJECT REVIEW

Download or read book THIRD MARAGING STEEL PROJECT REVIEW written by RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY DIV BOLLING AFB D C. and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 593 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report consists of a series of papers on the technical progress achieved on low-carbon, highnickel, maraging steels up to July 1963. Information on microstructure, mechanical properties, forming, welding, forging and casting of maraging steels is given. The applicability of these steels to rocket motor cases is discussed. The influence of processing variables and fabrication processes on mechanical properties is given. Plate, in a variety of thicknesses, is extensively evaluated, and sheet to a lesser degree. Other aspects of maraging steel technology, such as the castability of maraging steel by the monoshell process and the use of maraging steel in elevated temperature airframe design, are examined. Book The Metallurgy Behavior and Application of the 18 percent Nickel Maraging Steels A Survey

Download or read book The Metallurgy Behavior and Application of the 18 percent Nickel Maraging Steels A Survey written by A. M. Hall and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report resulted from a survey of users and manufacturers of maraging steels, Government agencies, research institutions, and published literature. It presents the technical status of the 18-percent nickel maraging steels in detail and brings together a large body of knowledge with regard to the metallurgical and engineering aspects of maraging steels. Since such steels were first announced in 1959, they have become highly important in aerospace, defense, and industrial work. The requirements of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration have given impetus to their development, and research now underway is expected to result in further improvements and applicability. The NASA Office of Technology Utilization sponsored this report as part of its program to disseminate information on technological developments which appear to be useful for general industrial applications.
