Assessments against the effluent limits stipulated in the Certificates of Approval (C of A) are included. STPs were assessed against C of A limits and STPs were also assessed against MOE policy effluent guidelines. Compliance status, remedial action programs, waste loadings and plant bypasses are summarized. Historical trends on STP compliance rates and waste loadings discharged to the environment are analyzed. The STP operation and abatement program is explained, and types of sewage treatment plants used in Ontario and their effectiveness are also discussed.
