Book Artificial Recharge of Groundwater

Download or read book Artificial Recharge of Groundwater written by Takashi Asano and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-22 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial Recharge of Groundwater focuses on artificial recharge of groundwater basins as a means to increase the natural supply of groundwater, along with the technical issues involved. Special emphasis is placed on the use of reclaimed municipal wastewater as a source for artificial recharge of groundwater. This book is comprised of 26 chapters organized into five sections. After reviewing the state of the art of artificial recharge of groundwater, the discussion turns to the fundamental aspects of groundwater recharge, including the role of artificial recharge in groundwater basin management, recharge methods, hydraulics, monitoring, and modeling. The next section considers pretreatment processes for wastewater and renovation of wastewater with rapid-infiltration land treatment systems and describes the health effects of wastewater reuse in groundwater recharge. A number of artificial recharge operations using reclaimed wastewater are then highlighted, focusing on cases in various countries including Israel, Germany, Poland, Japan, the Netherlands, and the United States. The remaining chapters look at the extent of contaminant removal by the soil system and the fate of micropollutants during groundwater recharge as well as the legal and economic aspects of groundwater recharge. Research needs for groundwater quality management are also explored. This monograph is written for civil and sanitary engineers, agricultural engineers, hydrologists, environmental scientists, and research scientists as well as public works officials, consulting engineers, agriculturalists, industrialists, and students at colleges and universities.

Book GIS and Geostatistical Techniques for Groundwater Science

Download or read book GIS and Geostatistical Techniques for Groundwater Science written by Dr. Senapathi Venkatramanan and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2019-05-28 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GIS and Geostatistical Techniques for Groundwater Science provides a detailed synthesis of the application of GIS and geostatistics in groundwater studies. As the book illustrates, GIS can be a powerful tool for developing solutions for water resource problems, assessing water quality, and managing water resources. Beginning with an introduction to the history of GIS and geostatistical techniques in groundwater studies, the book then describes various spatial techniques, including case studies for various applications, from quality assessment, to resource management. This book assembles the most up-to-date techniques in GIS and geostatistics as they relate to groundwater, one of our most important natural resources. Provides details on the application of GIS and statistics in groundwater studies Includes practical coverage of the use of spatial analysis techniques in groundwater science Bridges the gap between geostatistics and GIS as it relates to groundwater science and management Offers worldwide case studies to illustrate various techniques and applications in addressing groundwater issues

Book Ground Water Recharge Using Waters of Impaired Quality

Download or read book Ground Water Recharge Using Waters of Impaired Quality written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1994-02-01 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As demand for water increases, water managers and planners will need to look widely for ways to improve water management and augment water supplies. This book concludes that artificial recharge can be one option in an integrated strategy to optimize total water resource management and that in some cases impaired-quality water can be used effectively as a source for artificial recharge of ground water aquifers. Source water quality characteristics, pretreatment and recharge technologies, transformations during transport through the soil and aquifer, public health issues, economic feasibility, and legal and institutional considerations are addressed. The book evaluates three main types of impaired quality water sourcesâ€"treated municipal wastewater, stormwater runoff, and irrigation return flowâ€"and describes which is the most consistent in terms of quality and quantity. Also included are descriptions of seven recharge projects.

Book Artificial Ground water Recharge Wet Walnut Creek

Download or read book Artificial Ground water Recharge Wet Walnut Creek written by J. B. Gillespie and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Many individuals in western and central Kansas have expressed Interest in practical and economical ways to transfer flood runoff and sewage-plant effluent into ground-water storage for subsequent beneficial use. In May 1967, a number of individual and federal and state agency representatives, after touring western Kansas, agreed that recharge of the ground-water aquifers by artificial means should be studied. As a result the Kansas Water Resources Board requested ... $30,000 to initiate a program for the collection and evaluation of data and information from demonstration recharge projects."--Page 2

Book Practical and Applied Hydrogeology

Download or read book Practical and Applied Hydrogeology written by Zekâi Şen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-08-23 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applications in Hydrogeology for Geoscientists presents the most recent scientific developments in the field that are accessible yet rigorous enough for industry professionals and academic researchers alike. A multi-contributed reference that features the knowledge and experience of the field’s experts, the book’s chapters span the full scope of hydrogeology, introducing new approaches and progress in conceptualization, simulation of groundwater flow and transport, and progressive hydro-geophysical methods.
