Book REMODEL YOUR SOOTHSAYER

Download or read book REMODEL YOUR SOOTHSAYER written by JAYANTA BHAUMIK and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2018-12-26 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remodel Your Soothsayer is not about why you should or should not believe in astrology or any subject dealing in predictive faculties. This book has tried to document the fact that the way you respond to the perception of the unseen can very much be extended or expanded through other far easier, more comfortably active logical sets already present in you, creating thus a useful, stress-free relation between you and the riddling awe for the unseen. The book has tried to search how the prefixed factors can be seen waiting to be unravelled and accepted with some interesting flexibility of reasonings. Which ultimately should help develop the very sense that the tenet of destiny does no way encourage man’s limitational thought for life, world or himself.

Book excerpt: The 1st of a 2-book series to follow) tells the fictional saga of an actual barbarian Legionary, later a Roman citizen, and later still an equestrian knight, who led a coalition of tribal warriors to victory in a famous battle that annihilated three entire Roman legions. Certain contemporary historians revere this distant figure from the shadows of European antiquity as a liberating crusader, others as, “The noble savage gone wrong.” This tale of Imperial Rome and ancient Germanorum centers on the travails, defeats, and victories of a Cheruscan tribal princeling Roman scribes all referred to by the Latinized name Arminius. A culture hero—possibly even the legendary Wagnerian hero of heroes, Siegfried—he is credited with organizing and consummating the total destruction of three Roman legions in a crucial battle which conceivably changed the course of European history by making Caesar Augustus, and succeeding imperial rulers, abort the conquest of germanorum magnus, the vast barbarian territory east of the Rhine and north of the Danube.

Book excerpt: Ghost Cities &– inspired by the vacant, uninhabited megacities of China &– follows multiple narratives, including one in which a young man named Xiang is fired from his job as a translator at Sydney's Chinese Consulate after it is discovered he doesn' t speak a word of Chinese and has been relying entirely on Google Translate for his work. How is his relocation to one such ghost city connected to a parallel odyssey in which an ancient Emperor creates a thousand doubles of Himself? Or where a horny mountain gains sentience? Where a chess-playing automaton hides a deadly secret? Or a tale in which every book in the known Empire is destroyed &– then re-created, page by page and book by book, all in the name of love and art? Allegorical and imaginative, Ghost Cities will appeal to readers of Haruki Murakami and Italo Calvino.

Book Ponniyin Selvan The Killer Sword Part 3

Download or read book Ponniyin Selvan The Killer Sword Part 3 written by Varalotti Rengasamy and published by Pustaka Digital Media. This book was released on 2021-02-28 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I started translating Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan in 2010, blissfully unaware of the depth and the magnitude of the work, several people tried to dissuade me. One potential publisher even lured me with an offer to translate another work of Kalki. Reason: there were already many translations around. Yes, there were. But most of them, though done with utmost sincerity, failed to create the emotional bond with the readers which the original author had effortlessly done in the Fifties when Ponniyin Selvan was serialised in a popular magazine. I did not rush up. I did not have a target or deadline. I let the translation work progress in its own pace. That explains the six long years I spent for this project. I read and re-read the first draft a dozen times before handing it over to my editors. There were many points of contention. There were issues where we could not reach a consensus easily. Finally the hard copy was ready for publication in 2016. The publisher had jitters and so did I. We got ready rough copies of two volumes. I gave it to two of my friends, who had read the original more than sixty times, with a mandate to read them in one go. They did and said “This is the best you can do in English.” The work culminated not when the book was released by a former Central Minister in 2016, not even when it went for three editions but when an ardent fan of Kalki sent a mail to me in 2019. “It was as if Kalki himself rendered his great work in English.”
