Book Reliability and Redundancy Study for Electronic Flight Control Systems

Download or read book Reliability and Redundancy Study for Electronic Flight Control Systems written by Robert F. Helfinstine and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report contains the results of a three-part study relating to development of electronic (fly-by-wire) flight control systems. Flight safety and mission reliability goals for fly-by-wire flight control systems were derived based on a survey of Navy-supplied data on operational aircraft. Electronics augmentation equipment was surveyed to determine achieved reliability on this equipment. Correlation factors were derived for reliability predictions to achieve better accuracy in prediction techniques for electronic systems. Three basic fly-by-wire system mechanizations were studied. Relative merits of each were determined, particularly with respect to monitoring and built-in test functions. Design criteria were developed for a selected configuration. (Author).

Book Integrity in Electronic Flight Control Systems

Download or read book Integrity in Electronic Flight Control Systems written by ADVISORY GROUP FOR AEROSPACE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PARIS (France) and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intent of the AGARDograph is to address the hardware, software and man-machine interface aspects of reliable flight control systems. Rapid advances in solid-state electronics which resulted in a hundred-fold decrease in computer size, power and cost over the past two decades have revolutionized the design of modern flight control systems. Designers have capitalized on these gains primarily by incorporating additional control functions to improve aircraft or weapon system performance and survivability. As a result, control system complexity also has increased by 1 to 2 orders of magnitude, and highly-reliable flight control system operation has become critically important to mission planning and execution. While some increases in system reliability were obtained through redundancy in system mechanization, concerted efforts aimed at improving system integrity were not initiated until the late 1960's. This AGARDograph summarizes associated analysis, design, development and checkout approaches. The AGARDograph 1s organized into three major parts. Part I, Background and Requirements; Part 2, Analysis and Testing; and Part 3, Design and Implementation. This AGARDograph was prepared at the request of the Guidance and Control Panel of AGARD-NATO. Book Fault Diagnosis and Reconfiguration in Flight Control Systems

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis and Reconfiguration in Flight Control Systems written by C. Hajiyev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of fault diagnosis and reconfigurable control is a new and actually developing field of science and engineering. The subject becomes more interesting since there is an increasing demand for the navigation and control systems of aerospace vehicles, automated actuators etc. to be more safe and reliable. Nowadays, the problems of fault detection and isolation and reconfigurable control attract the attention the scientists in the world. The subject is emphasized in the recent international congresses such as IF AC World Congresses (San Francisco-1996, Beijing-1999, and Barcelona-2002) and lMEKO World Congresses (Tampere-1997, Osaka-1999, Vienna-2000), and also in the international conferences on fault diagnosis such as SAFEPROCESS Conferences (Hull-1997, Budapest-2000). The presented methods in the book are based on linear and nonlinear dynamic mathematical models of the systems. Technical objects and systems stated by these models are very large, and include various control systems, actuators, sensors, computer systems, communication systems, and mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic devices. The analytical fault diagnosis techniques of these objects have been developed for several decades. Many of those techniques are based on the use of the results of modem control theory. This is natural, because it is known that fault diagnosis process in control systems is considered as a part of general control process. xxii In organization of fault diagnosis of control systems, the use of the concepts and methods of modem control theory including concepts of state space, modeling, controllability, observability, estimation, identification, and filtering is very efficient.

Book Reliability Advancement for Electronic Engine Controllers

Download or read book Reliability Advancement for Electronic Engine Controllers written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study presents a comprehensive approach to the development of full-authority electronic engine controls which are capable of meeting the high reliability levels required of aircraft turbine engine controls. The primary groundrules and assumptions are defined, including the Variable Cycle Engine, its control requirements, and service environment. A preliminary design is developed, beginning with a system description and reliability evaluation of a baseline system, including implementation of redundancy, back-up control provisions, and self-test. Through detailed system analyses and electrical and mechanical trade studies, a final preliminary design is derived. (Other topics covered include component baselines for reliability and cost studies, a discussion of reliability technology information exchanges with consulting organizations, a detailed description of reliability improvement measures including various levels of device screening and testing, and a Cost of Ownership Study). Through the effective use of measures such as fault tolerant coverage and selective duplex/triplex redundancy, the final RAEEC system developed can approach high flight safety levels and the goal for maintenance MBTF of 25,000 hours.
