Book Basic Global Relative Invariants for Homogeneous Linear Differential Equations

Download or read book Basic Global Relative Invariants for Homogeneous Linear Differential Equations written by Roger Chalkley and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2002 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Given any fixed integer $m \ge 3$, the author presents simple formulas for $m - 2$ algebraically independent polynomials over $\mathbb{Q}$ having the remarkable property, with respect to transformations of homogeneous linear differential equations of order $m$, that each polynomial is both a semi-invariant of the first kind (with respect to changes of the dependent variable) and a semi-invariant of the second kind (with respect to changes of the independent variable). These relative invariants are suitable for global studies in several different contexts and do not require Laguerre-Forsyth reductions for their evaluation. In contrast, all of the general formulas for basic relative invariants that have been proposed by other researchers during the last 113 years are merely local ones that are either much too complicated or require a Laguerre-Forsyth reduction for each evaluation.

Book Approximation solvability of Nonlinear Functional and Differential Equations

Download or read book Approximation solvability of Nonlinear Functional and Differential Equations written by Wolodymyr V. Petryshyn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reference/text develops a constructive theory of solvability on linear and nonlinear abstract and differential equations - involving A-proper operator equations in separable Banach spaces, and treats the problem of existence of a solution for equations involving pseudo-A-proper and weakly-A-proper mappings, and illustrates their applications.;Facilitating the understanding of the solvability of equations in infinite dimensional Banach space through finite dimensional appoximations, this book: offers an elementary introductions to the general theory of A-proper and pseudo-A-proper maps; develops the linear theory of A-proper maps; furnishes the best possible results for linear equations; establishes the existence of fixed points and eigenvalues for P-gamma-compact maps, including classical results; provides surjectivity theorems for pseudo-A-proper and weakly-A-proper mappings that unify and extend earlier results on monotone and accretive mappings; shows how Friedrichs' linear extension theory can be generalized to the extensions of densely defined nonlinear operators in a Hilbert space; presents the generalized topological degree theory for A-proper mappings; and applies abstract results to boundary value problems and to bifurcation and asymptotic bifurcation problems.;There are also over 900 display equations, and an appendix that contains basic theorems from real function theory and measure/integration theory.

Book Infinite Divisibility of Probability Distributions on the Real Line

Download or read book Infinite Divisibility of Probability Distributions on the Real Line written by Fred W. Steutel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-10-03 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infinite Divisibility of Probability Distributions on the Real Line reassesses classical theory and presents new developments, while focusing on divisibility with respect to convolution or addition of independent random variables. This definitive, example-rich text supplies approximately 100 examples to correspond with all major chapter topics and reviews infinite divisibility in light of the central limit problem. It contrasts infinite divisibility with finite divisibility, discusses the preservation of infinite divisibility under mixing for many classes of distributions, and investigates self-decomposability and stability on the nonnegative reals, nonnegative integers, and the reals.
