Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflections On A Near Universe is a study and theoretic presentation of quantum and metaphysical concepts and perceptions based on a scientific like research .I have based my study firstly on Teslas theories and expounded on the ideas concerning the quantum molecular actives in a vortex field. Using various accepted scientific studies from texts that support my theories I have then incorporated quantum metaphysical concepts and expounded upon them to include another dimension of thought that should bring the scientific community to a break-through understanding to expand the mind and our ability to use the grey matter. Beyond this, I have given a rudimentary design of a device that gives the reader a concrete application of the theories explored. I have written this book to assist humankind in the evolution of our species- it is my wish and intent to explore my theories with constructive intent Suzzanne W. Chappell

Download or read book A Many Colored Glass written by Freeman J. Dyson and published by University of Virginia Press. This book was released on 2010-02-03 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freeman Dyson’s latest book does not attempt to bring together all of the celebrated physicist’s thoughts on science and technology into a unified theory. The emphasis is, instead, on the myriad ways in which the universe presents itself to us--and how, as observers and participants in its processes, we respond to it. "Life, like a dome of many-colored glass," wrote Percy Bysshe Shelley, "stains the white radiance of eternity." The author seeks here to explore the variety that gives life its beauty. Taken from Dyson’s recent public lectures--delivered to audiences with no specialized knowledge in hard sciences--the book begins with a consideration of the practical and political questions surrounding biotechnology. As he seeks how best to explain the place of life in the universe, Dyson then moves from the ethical to the purely scientific. The book concludes with an attempt to understand the implications of biology for philosophy and religion. The pieces in this collection touch on numerous disciplines, from astronomy and ecology to neurology and theology, speaking to the lay reader as well as to the scientist. As always, Dyson’s view of human nature and behavior is balanced, and his predictions of a world to come serve primarily as a means for thinking about the world as it is today.

Engaging in dialogue with theological thinkers such as Willie James Jennings, Franz Rosenzweig, Søren Kierkegaard, René Girard, Kelly Brown Douglas, and many others, the chapters explore a wide variety of topics, including violence, sacrifice, colonialism, Israeli-Palestinian relations, virtue ethics, character formation, identity formation, and mythic reinvention. This book demonstrates that the stories of Thor, Daredevil, Sabra, Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, Thanos, Luke Cage, and others engage not just our imagination, but our theological imagination as well.

Book Our Curious World of Mirror Images

Download or read book Our Curious World of Mirror Images written by Titus Joseph and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2013-12-10 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introducing a new holistic paradigm that provides a clear new pair of lens - for the mind. This new concept depolarizes our perceptions on reality by reconciling the ancient and deeply compelling paradox known as dualism. As it unravels the greatest mystery of our existential lives, that great enigma that in spirituality led us from “all good”, to good & evil; and in science, leads to two laws that we cannot reconcile. However, with this new pair of depolarizing lens, we are able to conceive something quite remarkable, space, time and how existing things are formed in it. This book is very relevant because it is antidote to the social and political ills of our societies. The polarization inherent in our present paradigm creates social diseases such as sexism, racism, wars, and the myriad forms of hate we tend to indulge in. We daily confront the ravages of political neglect that we are forced to bear, as we try to cope with these corrupted ways of being. The benefit of this new holistic paradigm is that it provides a logical, science-based understanding that is so obvious and universal, we are essentially oblivious to it; and, it resolves the greatest paradoxes we face as spiritual beings in a materialistic world. This book promotes well-being for the soul in the evolution of the mind. • Reveals the origin of the invisible field we call Space(Time) • Explains how existing things emerge and form into being • Sheds whole new light on the meaning of GOD • Reconciles the divides between Eastern and Western traditions in religion, science, and philosophy • Bridges Dualism (Separation & Polarization) • Self Actualization Meditations (“I AM ‘Mind’, I AM ‘Consciousness’”)

Book Evening Thoughts

    Book Details:
  • Author : Thomas Berry
  • Publisher : Catapult
  • Release : 2010-07-01
  • ISBN : 157805186X
  • Pages : 125 pages

Download or read book Evening Thoughts written by Thomas Berry and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2010-07-01 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essays on our spiritual role in the fate of the planet from “the most provocative figure among the new breed of eco–theologians” (Newsweek). Among the contemporary voices for the Earth, none resonates like that of cultural historian Thomas Berry. His teaching and writings have inspired a generation’s thinking about humankind’s place in the Earth community and the universe, engendering widespread critical acclaim and a documentary film on his life and work. This new collection of essays, from various years and occasions, expands and deepens ideas articulated in his earlier writings and also breaks new ground. Berry opens our eyes to the full dimensions of the ecological crisis, framing it as a crisis of spiritual vision. Applying his formidable erudition in cultural history, science, and comparative religions, he forges a compelling narrative of creation and communion that reconciles modern evolutionary thinking and traditional religious insights concerning our integral role in Earth’s society. While sounding an urgent alarm at our current dilemma, Berry inspires us to reclaim our role as the consciousness of the universe and thereby begin to create a true partnership with the Earth community. With Evening Thoughts, this wise elder has lit another beacon to lead us home. “Thomas Berry is an exemplar in a tradition that includes a diverse group of spiritually radiant individuals (Gandhi, the monk Thomas Merton, the Lakota elder Black Elk), visionaries (Jacques Ellul, Terry Tempest Williams, Rachel Carson), and writers (Wendell Berry, Gary Snyder, Rebecca Solnit, Loren Eiseley).” —Barry Lopez, author of Arctic Dreams

Book Probable Impossibilities

Download or read book Probable Impossibilities written by Alan Lightman and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The acclaimed author of Einstein’s Dreams tackles "big questions like the origin of the universe and the nature of consciousness ... in an entertaining and easily digestible way” (Wall Street Journal) with a collection of meditative essays on the possibilities—and impossibilities—of nothingness and infinity, and how our place in the cosmos falls somewhere in between. Can space be divided into smaller and smaller units, ad infinitum? Does space extend to larger and larger regions, on and on to infinity? Is consciousness reducible to the material brain and its neurons? What was the origin of life, and can biologists create life from scratch in the lab? Physicist and novelist Alan Lightman, whom The Washington Post has called “the poet laureate of science writers,” explores these questions and more—from the anatomy of a smile to the capriciousness of memory to the specialness of life in the universe to what came before the Big Bang. Probable Impossibilities is a deeply engaged consideration of what we know of the universe, of life and the mind, and of things vastly larger and smaller than ourselves.
