Book Sex Salvage Secrets Must Be Pr

Download or read book Sex Salvage Secrets Must Be Pr written by Reef Perkins and published by AbsolutelyAmazingebooks.com. This book was released on 2022-03-23 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the year 1620, when the Mayflower washed up on the beach at Plymouth Rock, there has been a Perkins on the loose in this country. This is the story of one such Perkins. Born when he was very young Perkins came to fruition in the rural cow pastures and swollen swamps of southern Michigan. From volunteering to be buried in the mud on the bottom of the Potomac River to casually leaping out of helicopters and into the slippery Tongue of the Ocean, Perkins takes the reader through a life of adventure, bad licks, bold naiveté and random happenings. Time spent in Vietnam destroying other people's property, life as an experimental diver, smuggler, prisoner, Key West salvage captain and several marriages have only served to further confuse the young Perkins. Driven by series of absurd experiences to the strangest calling of all, an author, Perkins now makes that sincere confusion available to the public in this mildew-resistant, soft-bound, edible edition. Written by ear, Sex, Salvage and Secrets (sub-titled Must Be Present to Win) is the rapid-fire journey of a young man thrust into premature adulthood and forced to pretend he understands what is happening and, even more befuddling—why. Colorful characters and dubious language mix with unanswered questions and cutting edge punctuation to bring to life the tropical meanderings of a man, who with great enthusiasm and limited intellect, ended up being here and-Present to Win.

Book excerpt: Nudibranchs of the Coral Triangle became the only guide to nudibranchs on the market with an up-to-date 2022 taxonomy after its major update (November 2022) This book is a field guide, an assistant for the identification of nudibranchs species in the region. It is designed for divers, underwater photographers. The book presents 1060+ species nudibranchs that can be found and photographed in depths and regions accessible to recreational diving. Photographs, showing color variations and age differences are included. A lot of species covered by this guide have never before appeared in field guides or popular books. Compact text blocks provide information about Common name, Latin name, family, geographic distribution, size, and the most distinctive features. An extensive photo index at the beginning of the book helps you to find the right group of nudibranchs, especially for readers who have not yet mastered their names. Nudibranchs or sea slugs occur throughout the world’s oceans and are present in many marine habitats. The greatest diversity of species is found in the Indo-Pacific tropics with a concentration of species within the Coral Triangle (CT), encompassing the waters of six Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Malaysia, Timor-Leste and Solomon Islands. This global epicenter of marine biodiversity covers only 1.6 percent of the planet’s oceanic area, but attracts an increasing number of divers and underwater photographers, including nudibranch lovers.

Book Fisheries and Aquaculture

  • Release : 2020
  • ISBN : 0190865628
  • Pages : 579 pages

Download or read book Fisheries and Aquaculture written by Gustavo Lovrich and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2020 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Much of the biological and other research efforts on crustaceans have been driven by their importance to humans as a food source. Production comes from a diverse array of methods and scales of extraction, from small recreational or subsistence fisheries to industrial scale operations. Most crustacean catch comes from shrimp fisheries with over two million tonnes taken in 2014, mainly by trawl. The genera Acetes, Fenneropenaeus, and Pandalus account for around three quarters of this catch. Crab, krill and lobster are the other main crustacean products (around 600,000 t crab, 380,000 t krill and 300,000 t lobster in 2014). Trends in crustacean fisheries are broadly similar to those of other seafood although crustaceans often target different market segments and receive higher prices than fish. Crustacean fisheries management faces many challenges with management of bycatch from trawl gears especially significant. Fortunately, crustaceans tend to be easily handled with low discard mortality and this has enabled widespread use of regulations based on size, maturity or sex (e.g., male-only fisheries). Total allowable catch (TAC) limits are widely used and highly effective for ensuring sustainable harvests when set responsibly using good information. TAC systems are often combined with catch share or individual transferable quota systems which had a mixed history in crustaceans, sometimes reducing overall community benefit. This parallels the challenge facing fisheries globally of ensuring that harvests are not only sustainable but also deliver benefits to the wider community beyond the commercial fishers; management of some crustacean fisheries are at the forefront of these developments"--

Book Marine Ornamental Species Aquaculture

Download or read book Marine Ornamental Species Aquaculture written by Ricardo Calado and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-02-15 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global trade of aquatic organisms for home and public aquariums, along with associated equipment and accessories, has become a multi-billion dollar industry. Aquaculture of marine ornamental species, still in its infancy, is recognized as a viable alternative to wild collection as it can supplement or replace the supply of wild caught specimens and potentially help recover natural populations through restocking. This book collects into a single work the most up-to-date information currently available on the aquaculture of marine ornamental species. It includes the contributions of more than 50 leading scientists and experts on different topics relevant for the aquaculture of the most emblematic groups of organisms traded for reef aquariums. From clownfish, to angelfish, tangs and seahorses, as well as corals, anemones, shrimps, giant clams and several other reef organisms, all issues related with the husbandry, breeding, and trade are addressed, with explanatory schemes and illustrations being used to help in understanding the most complex topics addressed. Marine Ornamental Species Aquaculture is a key reference for scientists and academics in research institutes and universities, public and private aquaria, as well as for hobbyists. Entrepreneurs will also find this book an important resource, as the culture of marine ornamental species is analyzed from a business oriented perspective, highlighting the risks and opportunities of commercial scale aquaculture of marine ornamentals.

Download or read book Living Mirrors written by Ohad Nachtomy and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-03-29 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Living Mirrors, Ohad Nachtomy examines Leibniz's attempt to "re-enchant" the natural world-that is, to infuse life, purpose, and value into the very foundations of nature, a nature that Leibniz saw as disenchanted by Descartes' and Spinoza's more naturalistic and mechanistic theories. Nachtomy sees Leibniz's nuanced view of infinity- how it differs in the divine as well as human spheres, and its relationship to numerical and metaphysical unity-as key in this effort. Leibniz defined living beings by means of an infinite nested structure particular to what he called "natural machines"-and for him, an intermediate kind of infinity is the defining feature of living beings. Using a metaphor of a "living mirror," Leibniz put forth infinity as crucial to explaining the unity of a living being as well as the harmony between the infinitely small and the infinitely large; in this way, employing infinity and unity, we can better understand life itself, both as a metaphysical principle and as an empirical fact. Nachtomy's sophisticated and novel treatment of the essential themes in Leibniz's work will not only interest Leibniz scholars, but scholars of early modern philosophy and students of the history of philosophy and science as well.
