Book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper

Download or read book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper written by Pratima Bajpai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paper recycling in an increasingly environmentally conscious world is gaining importance. Increased recycling activities are being driven by robust overseas markets as well as domestic demand. Recycled fibers play a very important role today in the global paper industry as a substitute for virgin pulps. Paper recovery rates continue to increase year after year Recycling technologies have been improved in recent years by advances in pulping, flotation deinking and cleaning/screening, resulting in the quality of paper made from secondary fibres approaching that of virgin paper. The process is a lot more eco-friendly than the virgin-papermaking process, using less energy and natural resources, produce less solid waste and fewer atmospheric emissions, and helps to preserve natural resources and landfill space. Currently more than half of the paper is produced from recovered papers. Most of them are used to produce brown grades paper and board but for the last two decades, there is a substantial increase in the use of recovered papers to produce, through deinking, white grades such as newsprint, tissue, market pulp. By using recycled paper, companies can take a significant step toward reducing their overall environmental impacts. This study deals with the scientific and technical advances in recycling and deinking including new developments. Covers in great depth all the aspects of recycling technologies Covers the latest science and technology in recycling Provides up-to-date, authoritative information and cites many mills experiences and pertinent research Includes the use of biotech methods for deinking, refining. and improving drainage

Book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper

Download or read book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper written by Pratima Bajpai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-06-28 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper, Second Edition covers recent advances in recycling technologies. This second edition examines this new process, which is more eco-friendly than the virgin-papermaking process, and which uses less energy and natural resources, produces less solid waste and fewer atmospheric emissions, and helps to preserve natural resources and landfill space. In addition, the most recent information about the recycling of fibers into various grades of paper and board, the control of stickies, and the effects of recycled fiber on paper machines are also covered. Recycling technologies have been improved in recent years due to advances in pulping, flotation deinking, and cleaning/screening, resulting in the quality of paper made from secondary fibers remarkably approaching that of virgin paper. Covers all aspects of recycling technologies in great depth Offers up-to-date authoritative information and cites many mills experiences and pertinent research Examines the use of biotech methods for deinking, refining, improving drainage, and stickies control Includes new case studies on paper recycling

Book excerpt: Papers on recycling have been a part of Conference Proceedings and Tappi Journal for decades. In just the past nine years, several hundred papers ona spects of recycling ahve been presented at conferences and published in the journal. To use htis collected body of knowledge, this book was created by reviewing and selecting the best of the appers on recycling presented at TAPPI Conference or published in Tappi Journal during the past nine years. The issues of collected wasste paper quality, deinking of newsprint, and the challenges of recycled paper production are addressed in these pages. Solid waste, mandatory collection, quality control, "stickies" contamination, and more are all a part of this collection.

Book Recycled Fiber Decontamination

Book excerpt: "It's Made to Sell-Not to Drink!" is the almost too good to be true tale of Bill Wellman's life. From opening pages, the stories of mischief, adventure and fortune spill forth. There is young Wellman helping run a betting parlor in his parent's bedroom, or winning a stereo for escorting an elephant to an appliance store. Other stories tell about the leaky "In-Tents" Theater, the Indian medicine man and his father riding a horse through the bar. Wellman has done it all. He worked with famous - Bob Hope, "Goober", Kenny Rogers, and Liberace and helped introduce Orville's popcorn to the world. He helped develop theaters, restaurants and hotels. It's a tale telling page turner that will leave you laughing, crying and thoroughly entertained.

Book New Approaches on Deinking Evaluations

Download or read book New Approaches on Deinking Evaluations written by Roland Gong and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paper recycling in the U.S. is the most successful program of environmental sustainability. Approximately two thirds of consumed paper products were recycled, according to the EPA and AF&PA. However, domestic mills only applied one third of recycled fibers into new products, which is much lower than reported in China. The domestic recycle mills claimed that outdated facilities, poor recycled fiber quality and high manufacturing cost are the major issues. They also said that these recycle mills have been put in a no-win position, which threatens the whole recycling loop eventually. A case study about Chinese recycle mills has been applied based on field trips, which were performed to discover their strengths in recycle fiber utilization. INGEDE Deinking Evaluation methods have drawn much attention for domestic users. A modification was made, which overcame the variances of standards and apparatuses. Deinking evaluation is the key to deinking processes. Two new deinking evaluation methods have been introduced, which have shown advantages in accuracy, speed, optical correlation, and operational convenience. The deinking evaluation, using near infrared imaging analysis, is able to replace current industrial standards.
