Book excerpt: La restauration des documents cinématographiques a débuté durant cette dernière décennie et elle fut principalement motivée par l'état de délabrement avancé de nombreux films. Le traitement numérique des films détériorés semble incontournable, même s'il reste très couteux pour être généralisé aujourd'hui. Les films cinématographiques vieillissants subissent divers types de détériorations. Nous abordons dans ce mémoire la restauration de deux catégories de défauts qui sont aussi les plus fréquents : les détériorations ponctuelles et les rayures. Pour préserver la qualité visuelle des images cinématographiques, nous détectons d'abord les détériorations pour ne focaliser la correction que sur les zones endommagées. La localisation des détériorations ponctuelles utilise deux détecteurs complémentaires. Un détecteur morphologique basé sur les propriétés statiques et un détecteur dynamique qui s'appuie sur le caractère impulsionnel de ces défauts. Les détériorations sont ensuite supprimées par une reconstruction morphologique. La rayure, de par sa persistance temporelle, compte parmi les défauts les plus problématiques à supprimer. Nous proposons, pour détecter les rayures, une approche spatio-temporelle. Tout d'abord, une technique statique basée sur la recherche d'extrema permet de détecter toutes les rayures. Un processus de poursuite, mis en œuvre par un filtrage de Kalman, permet alors de rejeter les fausses rayures. Deux méthodes de restauration, l'une statique et l'autre temporelle, sont proposées pour reconstruire les zones rayées. La première technique consiste en une version améliorée d'un algorithme existant basé sur les séries de Fourier. La seconde est une nouvelle approche bayesienne qui se distingue par sa performance aussi bien en terme de qualité qu'en cout de calcul. Sa principale originalité réside dans sa prise en compte des informations résiduelles des zones rayées.

Il s'agit d'obtenir des modèles 3D de scènes ou d'objets à partir d'une séquence d'images vidéo étalonnée ou non. L'idée développée tout au long de cette thèse est de contraindre le lieu géométrique des primitives images (ici des points) à travers la séquence, pour réduire l'espace des solutions du problème 3D et ainsi, permettre de remonter de l'espace en deux dimensions (les images) vers un résultat tridimensionnel (la scène ou l'objet 3D). Dans le cadre de notre travail, la précision dimensionnelle n'est pas un impératif absolu tout comme le temps de calcul dans la mesure où la reconstruction n'a pas à être réalisée en temps réel. Par ailleurs, le mouvement de la caméra est libre et ce dernier peut être mu selon les besoins de la reconstruction. Ces degrés de liberté, augmentés de connaissances locales au niveau de la scène ou de l'objet, nous permettent de choisir librement le type de contraintes à introduire pour réduire l'espace des solutions et pouvoir arriver à une interprétation unique. Ainsi, pour un objet en mouvement de rotation axiale, un rayon et une hauteur caractérisent le lieu géométrique des solutions 3D. Pour un mouvement libre, la connaissance de six points dans la scène dont quatre sont coplanaires, permet de définir les trajectoires des points image dans une base homographique. La principale contribution de cette thèse est de développer des algorithmes de reconstruction 3D originaux permettant d'utiliser au mieux l'ensemble des données de la séquence d'images, en contraignant le lieu géométrique des primitives d'un point de vue spatio-temporel.
