Book Reclaiming Aphrodite

Download or read book Reclaiming Aphrodite written by Allison J. Rice and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis explores sacred sexuality using alchemical hermeneutic and heuristic research methodologies with a depth psychological perspective. It aims to help individuals achieve deeper intimacy in relationship and embrace the erotic self through conscious awareness of all sensual experience. Throughout history, social conditioning has promulgated ideas about and behaviors related to sexuality according to the cultural norms and values of the place and time. This thesis seeks to bring the sacred back to sexuality as a portal to achieving wholeness of psyche. Alongside analysis of previous and contemporary research on this topic, the author uses artistic expression and reflections on personal experience to bring creativity and meaning to this thesis, aligning the mind, body, and spirit--a process symbolic of the goal of this research.

Book In Search of Aphrodite

Download or read book In Search of Aphrodite written by Chelsea Wakefield and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-10-14 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to be “in search of Aphrodite?” For most women, sex is complex, and more than a juxtaposition of body parts. Women sense the possibility of depth, meaning, even transcendence, but in a somatically disconnected, sexually superficial world, it can be difficult for a woman to discover her inner fire, define who she is sexually, and confidently communicate this to her partner. Part philosophy, part treatment manual, In Search of Aphrodite addresses women’s sexual problems from an inspiring, creative perspective, integrating Jungian Psychology and sex therapy. Readers will deepen their understanding of the sexual psyche and how this realm impacts women’s lives, as well as what the author calls the journey of Sexual IndividuationTM. Chelsea Wakefield covers a variety of topics such as healing ancient wounds, resolving inner conflicts, exploring sexual essence, identity, scripts, primal instinct, desire, fantasy, longing, and more. She offers pathways to sexual enrichment and improved communication with a partner. Sexual archetypes are introduced and organized around the author’s Sexual Essence Wheel. Gatekeepers and Eros-inhibiting archetypes are described, along with what to do when treatment stalls. This book is appropriate for: • Clinicians who are nervous about venturing into conversations about women’s sexuality • Clinicians who are comfortable with sexual topics and are curious about new interventions • Sex therapists who want a treatment model that acknowledges the multidimensional aspects of sexuality • Jungian analysts and Jungian oriented practitioners who want helpful tools for addressing sexual issues as an invitation into individuation • Pastoral counselors and spiritual guidance practitioners who seek to heal souls wounded by sexual trauma and sex-negative teachings • Women who want to explore their sexual psyche and define their sexual essence, and men who wish to better understand the sexual depths of women. Rich with case histories and an “Inner Cast of Characters” that clients can explore, this resource will help women discover joyful embodiment, innate eroticism, and sexual pleasure!

Download or read book Train Yourself to Be Godly written by B. L. Clifton and published by . This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Porn is laying waste to an entire generation of men and women. The wreckage it leaves behind is staggering. It damages the body, crippling male sexuality with a never-before-seen form of erectile dysfunction. It sears the brain, literally rewiring it for lust, not love. Which then inhibits male-female attraction, by disrupting biological and emotional pathways for falling in love. It ruins marriages. It steals from children whose parents no longer provide godly models of masculinity and femininity to follow. It bludgeons your creativity and productivity. It poisons your soul with toxic shame and emptiness. It hollows out your spiritual life, driving a wedge between you and God. But why list all the reasons why porn is harmful, when you need look no further than your own heart? If porn is your problem, then you already know the damage it's causing. So how do you break free of the claws it has in you? Can you even break free? Yes you can, because I did it. Back in the mid-90s, I was one of many swamped by the porn tsunami which was rapidly overspreading our culture through the rise of the machines. A little marriage pain and a chief-of-sinners heart were all that was needed to drag me under. It took nearly two years to fully detox from that frightening experience, and since then, as a pastor and writer, I have made it a priority in my teaching to offer any who would listen advice on how to fight for holiness in this most unholy age."Train Yourself To Be Godly: A 40-Day Journey Toward Sexual Wholeness" is a chronicle of what I learned as Jesus grabbed hold of my hand and led me out of that dark place. There are several things unique about this book that you may not find elsewhere: 1. I recognized in my struggle that I had two obstacles to contend against: a sin nature, and an untrained nature. Sometimes I sin because of the corrupt bent of my heart, and sometimes I sin because I have a flabby body, a weak mind, and a lazy will. Both parts of me have to be trained. Sin not only has to be repented of, but unlearned. This book provides practical strategies for overcoming both problems. 2. One of my mentors who showed me the way to freedom was a fourth-century sex addict, who was rescued by Christ. He became one of the greatest Christian thinkers and writers in history. We know him today as St. Augustine. I stumbled across a famous book of his called "Confessions" back when I was in the thick of my struggle. I was astonished by how openly he wrote about his addiction to sex, and how Jesus broke the back of his sin, and transformed his life. The same principles he shares in "Confessions" are directly applicable to helping change the heart of a porn addict. And I'm exhibit A. I quote Augustine throughout my book, and devote an entire week of readings to unpacking his life and thinking.3. Living in freedom in our modern world requires a positive, wholistic theology of sexual purity, not a "fleeing to the desert" asceticism, or a "bring the thunder" heavy-handedness, which many seem to advocate. Until Christ returns or an apocalypse pushes us back a notch, computers are here to stay. The challenge facing followers of Christ here and now is: how do we walk in freedom, purity and joy in this 21st-century, high-tech Corinth? One solution: we must learn the art of having "holy conversations" about biblical sexuality between husbands and wives, parents and their children, and pastors and their congregations. We'll talk about how to do that in the book. If you find yourself hopelessly lost in these dangerous woods, I hope these 40 readings can be a trail map of sorts that will help you find your way out.Have no doubt about it my friend - God made you better than this and God made you for better things than this. Reach out to Jesus right now. Start the journey toward freedom.

Book Sex and the Intelligence of the Heart

Download or read book Sex and the Intelligence of the Heart written by Julie McIntyre and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-04-26 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores how Nature underlies sexuality and intimacy • Examines how to regain intimacy in our relationships in a way that embraces our hidden wild nature and restores the sacred to our lives • Provides sacred sex and intimacy-building practices for partners and exercises to reconnect with the intuitive intelligence of the heart, remove our emotional armor, and cultivate a deeper relationship with the Earth • Shows how by healing our relationship with Nature and our sexuality, we move toward healing the whole planet Nature is having sex all the time--that’s one of the reasons we feel so alive when we are immersed in it. Sexuality is essential to the sensation of Nature in your own body, of connecting to the piece of Earth closest to you--your own flesh and bones. Many a couple has been overcome by passion while walking in the woods or on the beach; many a soul has found solace or epiphany in Nature. Living in accordance with Nature depends on you being your true, whole self--a sexual, sensual, erotic, fully alive human being. Exploring the territory of intimacy, sacred sex, and emotional healing as a journey to wholeness, Julie McIntyre examines the sacred relationship between sexuality and the Earth and reveals how to create deep, lasting intimacy with your lover by recapturing the wild, spontaneous, natural sexuality that is your birthright. Detailing the process of moving from your head to the secret garden of your heart, she provides exercises to heal your psyche of old emotional trauma, reconnect with the intuitive intelligence of the heart, and cultivate a deeper relationship with the Earth in order to trust yourself and become vulnerable and open with your lover and thus truly intimate. She shows how there is a direct relationship between our beliefs and values about sex and intimacy and our beliefs and values about the environment and the Earth. She reveals how, by healing our separation from Nature and our sexuality, we can bring the sacred back into our lives, shape our own ecstatic sexual experiences, and move toward healing the whole planet.

By awakening your spiritual Womb, the holy of holies within the temple of your body, you can reconnect to the transformative energy of Womb Consciousness and reclaim your sacred powers of creation and love. Drawing on mythical and spiritual traditions from almost every culture, Dr. Azra and Seren Bertrand reconstruct the moon-based feminine mystery teachings of a lost global Womb religion, tracing the tradition all the way back to the Neanderthals and beyond. They explore how these teachings were encoded in the symbolism of folk and fairy tales; the legends of the Holy Grail; the traditions of Mary Magdalene and Sophia; the maiden, queen, and crone archetypes; and the teachings of alchemy and the chakras. They show how sages and shamans across the globe all secretly spoke of the Cosmic Womb and the sacred creative powers of Moon Blood. The authors look at the power of the Moon and its connection to sacred Womb Consciousness, offering meditations and practices to help awaken your spiritual Womb and activate its sacred magic of creation and manifestation. They explain how to activate the energetic gateways of the Womb and merge the heart and Womb to make sexual union the highest sacrament of love. Revealing how we must reconnect with the Divine Feminine to rebirth the Divine Masculine and restore balance to our world, they show how, as we reawaken the powerful ancient path of the Womb Mysteries, we help return our world to harmony with the wild, untamed creative flows and cyclical rhythms of the cosmos.

Book Participation and the Mystery

Download or read book Participation and the Mystery written by Jorge N. Ferrer and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2017-04-12 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Participation and the Mystery is both an introduction to and expansion of Jorge N. Ferrer's groundbreaking work on participatory spirituality, which holds that human beings are active cocreators of spiritual phenomena, worlds, and even ultimates. After examining the impact of his work since the publication of Revisioning Transpersonal Theory, Ferrer discusses the relationship between science and transpersonal psychology, the nature of a fully embodied spirituality, and the features of integral spiritual practice. The book also introduces a participatory philosophy of education and applies it to the academic teaching of mysticism and a novel approach to embodied spiritual inquiry. Critically engaging the influential work of Stanislav Grof, Ken Wilber, and A. H. Almaas, Ferrer concludes with an original solution to the problem of religious pluralism that affirms the ontological richness of religious worlds while avoiding the extremes of perennialism and contextualism, offering a hopeful vision for the future of world religion. Participation and the Mystery is an invaluable resource to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of participatory approaches to transpersonal psychology, integral and contemplative education, contemporary spirituality, and religious studies.

  • ISBN : 0307765032
  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book After Silence written by Nancy Venable Raine and published by Crown. This book was released on 2010-09-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Silence has the rusty taste of shame. The words shut up are the most terrible words I know. . . . The man who raped me spat these words out over and over during the hours of my attack--when I screamed, when I tried to talk him out of what he was doing, when I protested. It seemed to me that for seven years--until at last I spoke--these words had sunk into my soul and become prophecy. And it seems to me now that these words, the brutish message of tyrants, preserve the darkness that still covers this pervasive crime. The real shame, as I have learned, is to consent to them." After Silence is Nancy Venable Raine's eloquent, profoundly moving response to her rapist's command to "shut up," a command that is so often echoed by society and internalized by rape victims. Beginning with her assault by a stranger in her home in 1985, Raine's riveting narrative of the ten-year aftermath of her rape brings to light the truth that survivors of traumatic experiences know--a trauma does not end when you find yourself alive. Just as devastating as the rape itself was the silence that shrouded it, a silence born of her own feelings of shame as well as the incomprehension of others. Raine gives shape, form, and voice to the "unspeakable" and exposes the misconceptions and cruelties that surround this prevalent though hidden crime. With formidable power and in intimate detail, she probes the long-term psychological and physiological aftereffects of rape, its tangled sexual confusions, the treatment of rape by the media and the legal and medical professions, and contemporary cultural views of victimhood. For anyone, female or male, who has suffered from or witnessed the shattering effects of rape, After Silence inspires and points the way to healing. This landmark book is a stunning literary achievement that is a testimony to the power of language to transform the worst sort of violation and suffering into meaning and into art.
