The alternatives studied in the RDEIR/SDEIS include Alternative 1 (No Build), Alternative 5C (Modernization of I-710 Freeway), and Alternative 7 (Modernization and Addition of a Clean-Emission Freight Corridor). All build alternatives proposed also include programmatic elements, including a zero emission/near zero emission truck deployment program, expanded transit services, and a community health benefit program. Due to requests from interested stakeholders, the public comment period has been extended until Monday, October 23, 2017.

The proposed project would improve Interstate 710 (I-710), also referred to as the Long Beach Freeway, in Los Angeles County between Ocean Blvd. and the State Route 60 (SR-60). A Draft EIR/EIS was first circulated in 2012. Based upon public comments received on the Draft EIR/EIS and new information which came to light, the build alternatives under consideration were revised. The RDEIR/SDEIS addresses the revised build alternatives.
