Book Au Au Reactions at the AGS

Download or read book Au Au Reactions at the AGS written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Particle production and correlation functions from Au+Au reactions have been measured as a function of both beam energy (2--10.7 AGeV) and impact parameter. These results are used to probe the dynamics of heavy-ion reactions, confront hadronic models over a wide range of conditions and to search for the onset of new phenomena.

Book excerpt: This volume is the record of the first meeting of Chinese physicists from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as the rest of the world. The participants included all four Nobel laureates of Chinese origin, the Presidents of Academia on both shores of the Taiwan Straits, academicians, OCPA and APS prize recipients, and leading researchers in many areas of physics. Included in the volume are the plenary talks of T D Lee, C N Yang, reports from all four major research facilities, as well as most of the invited papers and abstracts from the poster sessions.

Book First Results with the Au beam at the AGS

Download or read book First Results with the Au beam at the AGS written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first measurements using 11.6 A. GeV/c 197 Au beam have been made in April 1992 at the Tandem-Booster-AGS accelerator facilities. Preliminary results from different experiments are presented for Au + Au collisions. Experiment E-877 shows a large increase of the total transverse energy between Si + Al and Au + Au reactions. Experiment E-866 observes an observes an increase of the K /?+ ratio (0.25 ± 0.02) with respect the Si + Au ratio.

Book Introduction to Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics

Download or read book Introduction to Relativistic Heavy Ion Physics written by Jerzy Bartke and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to cover the fascinating field of physics of relativistic heavy ions, mainly from the experimentalist's point of view. After the introductory chapter on quantum chromodynamics, basic properties of atomic nuclei, sources of relativistic nuclei, and typical detector set-ups are described in three subsequent chapters. Experimental facts on collisions of relativistic heavy ions are systematically presented in 15 consecutive chapters, starting from the simplest features like cross sections, multiplicities, and spectra of secondary particles and going to more involved characteristics like correlations, various relatively rare processes, and newly discovered features: collective flow, high pT suppression and jet quenching. Some entirely new topics are included, such as the difference between neutron and proton radii in nuclei, heavy hypernuclei, and electromagnetic effects on secondary particle spectra.Phenomenological approaches and related simple models are discussed in parallel with the presentation of experimental data. Near the end of the book, recent ideas about the new state of matter created in collisions of ultrarelativistic nuclei are discussed. In the final chapter, some predictions are given for nuclear collisions in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), now in construction at the site of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva. Finally, the appendix gives us basic notions of relativistic kinematics, and lists the main international conferences related to this field. A concise reference book on physics of relativistic heavy ions, it shows the present status of this field.

Download or read book The CBM Physics Book written by Bengt Friman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-03-03 with total page 973 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exhaustive survey is the result of a four year effort by many leading researchers in the field to produce both a readable introduction and a yardstick for the many upcoming experiments using heavy ion collisions to examine the properties of nuclear matter. The books falls naturally into five large parts, first examining the bulk properties of strongly interacting matter, including its equation of state and phase structure. Part II discusses elementary hadronic excitations of nuclear matter, Part III addresses the concepts and models regarding the space-time dynamics of nuclear collision experiments, Part IV collects the observables from past and current high-energy heavy-ion facilities in the context of the theoretical predictions specific to compressed baryonic matter. Part V finally gives a brief description of the experimental concepts. The book explicitly addresses everyone working or planning to enter the field of high-energy nuclear physics.
