  • Pages : 144 pages

Download or read book Learning Rebooted written by James Penny and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-27 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arguing that education systems are failing to keep up with the pace of change in society, The System Rebooted: Education Fit For the Digital Age, sets out a unique proposal for system-wide radical change. Focusing on the transformations needed in order to align education systems with current trends in society, the book stimulates discussion by offering a heightened understanding of what education reform needs to look like, and suggesting a way forward for both individual schools and whole systems. The book makes a clear delineation between learning and education, building a case for how learning, an essential skill, is often not allowed to flourish in many modern education systems. Chapters explore how rapid changes to technology are shaping the way young people share, collaborate and communicate and, arguing that education systems continue to produce young people who are not equipped with the skills that society needs, the book makes a cogent case for how education systems need to reflect these profound changes, as well as highlighting how learning organisations could rationalise their expenditure on technology. This unique and radical book brings topical issues to the forefront of discussion, and is essential reading for school leaders, policy makers, and governors.

Book Britain Rebooted

Download or read book Britain Rebooted written by David Torrance and published by Luath Press Ltd. This book was released on 2014-05-06 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great Britain, (abbreviation: UK) England, Wales and Scotland considered as a unit. The name is also often used loosely to refer to the United Kingdom. reboot, ri-bu:t , verb to restart or revive... give fresh impetus to... federal, fed ar-al, adj. having or relating to a system of government in which several states form a unity but remain independent in internal affairs. Would federalism work in the UK? Wouldn't England dominate a British federation? How would powers be distributed between federal and home Nation level? What about the House of Lords? In the run up to the historic referendum on Scottish independence there has been a plethora of tracts, articles and books arguing for and against, but there remains a gap in the literature: the case for Scotland becoming part of a 'rebooted' federal Union. It is an old, usually Liberal, dream, but one still worth fighting for. It is often assumed that federalism is somehow 'alien' to the Scottish and British constitutional tradition but in this short book journalist David Torrance argues that not only has the UK already become a quasi-federal state but that formal federation is the best way of squaring the competing demands of Nationalists and Unionists. He also uses Scotland's place within a federal UK to examine other potential reforms with a view to tackling ever-increasing inequality across the British Isles and create a more equal, successful and constitutionally coherent country.

Book Customer Experience Management Rebooted

Download or read book Customer Experience Management Rebooted written by Steven Walden and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-02 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walden shows why most customer experience management fails to improve the customer’s real experience and how to concentrate on the subjective emotional perceptions that drive the customer’s actual “experience” rather than the quantitative service efficiency metrics gathered by most CX tools. Customer experience management is not about managing every objective “experience” your customers have with you. It’s about understanding, measuring and creating “experiences” that customers “value”. So while service and efficiency are wonderful things, they represent "business as usual"; the ticket to the game, the platform from which “experiences” are created not the experience itself! The message of this book is that businesses are at risk! Their uber focus on efficiency is leading them to miss the chance to connect more closely with their customer base and deliver on the creative potential of their brand. They ignore the fact that technology is an enabler of the “experience” it is not “the experience”. Customers are not data – they are people: living, breathing, contradictory, infuriating bundles of cognitive and emotionally-driven responses to stimuli. “Experience” deals with how customers think, feel and behave – the things that motivate them to act which go beyond frequently forgettable efficiency. This means differentiating by providing new and better experiences based on a deeper understanding of what motivates customers to buy. To do that we must leave the objective, quantitative, world of quality management and enter the subjective, qualitative, world of customer’s psychology. Walden reboots our understanding of customer experience, showing us what it means, how to measure it, what we need to do to manage it and how we can gain financially from it. Understand, measure, create and do – but first of all, understand.

Book Watching While Black Rebooted

Download or read book Watching While Black Rebooted written by Beretta E. Smith-Shomade and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-10 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Watching While Black Rebooted: The Television and Digitality of Black Audiences examines what watching while Black means in an expanded U.S. televisual landscape. In this updated edition, media scholars return to television and digital spaces to think anew about what engages and captures Black audiences and users and why it matters. Contributors traverse programs and platforms to wrestle with a changing television industry that has exploded and included Black audiences as a new and central target of its visioning. The book illuminates history, care, monetization, and affect. Within these frames, the chapters run the gamut from transmediation, regional relevance, and superhuman visioning to historical traumas and progress, queer possibilities, and how televisual programming can make viewers feel Black. Mostly, the work tackles what the future looks like now for a changing televisual industry, Black media makers, and Black audiences. Chapters rethink such historically significant programs as Roots and Underground, such seemingly innocuous programs as Soul Food, and such contemporary and culturally complicated programs as Being Mary Jane and Atlanta. The book makes a case for the centrality of these programs while always recognizing the racial dynamics that continue to shape Black representation on the small screen. Painting a decidedly introspective portrait across forty years of Black television, Watching While Black Rebooted sheds much-needed light on under examined demographics, broadens common audience considerations, and gives deference to the preferences of audiences and producers of Black-targeted programming.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This analysis examines several recent reimagined science fiction franchises (Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, V, and Star Wars) in order to capture how "reboots" work from a fan perspective. Previous encounters with these stories make the reboot experience distinct for fan-viewers, who bring with them a set of expectations and knowledge, often tied to franchise canon that cannot be separated from the new film or television series. Even when elements of the original versions are maintained, memories of them influence the narrative encounter. This book considers reimagined texts from several levels, including the medium, the characters, and the world building, to break down and then explore the reboot experience.
