Book Real Time Multi Frequency Modulation Using Differentially Encoded Signal Constellations

Download or read book Real Time Multi Frequency Modulation Using Differentially Encoded Signal Constellations written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses advances in the development of a multi- frequency modulation (MFM) packet communications system on an industry standard computer. Transmitter and receiver programs are described that control vector signal processors and data acquisition devices. Further, these programs encode, modulate, demodulate, and decode the MFM signal. The throughput data rate was doubled, the encoding/decoding process was implemented in near real-time, and a personal computer plug-in board was designed and built to provide synchronization between the transmitter and receiver. This MFM implementation provided acceptable bit error rates at input signal-to-noise ratios of 15 dB and above.

Book Near Capacity Multi Functional MIMO Systems

Download or read book Near Capacity Multi Functional MIMO Systems written by Lajos Hanzo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-05-11 with total page 738 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing an all-encompassing self-contained treatment of Near-Capacity Multi-Functional MIMO Systems , the book starts by categorizing the family of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) schemes as diversity techniques, multiplexing schemes, multiple access arrangements and beam-forming techniques. Sophisticated coherent and low-complexity non-coherent MIMO receivers dispensing with channel estimation are considered in both classic and cooperation-aided scenarios. It is demonstrated that in the presence of correlated shadow-fading, cooperation-assisted systems may be expected to outperform their non-cooperative counterparts. The book contains a 100-page chapter on the unified treatment of all block codes in the context of high-flexibility, cutting-edge irregular Linear Dispersion Codes (LDC), which approach the MIMO-capacity. The majority of the book’s solutions are in the optimum sphere-packing frame-work. Sophisticated amalgam of five year’s near-capacity MIMO research Detailed examination of wireless landscape, including the fields of channel coding, spacetime coding and turbo detection techniques Novel tool of Extrinsic Information Transfer Charts (EXIT) used to address recent developments Material presented logically, allowing advanced readers to turn directly to any specific chapter of interest One of the only books to cover these subjects, giving equal weighting to each

Book Implementation of Multi Frequency Modulation with Trellis Encoding and Viterbi Decoding Using a Digital Signal Processing Board

Download or read book Implementation of Multi Frequency Modulation with Trellis Encoding and Viterbi Decoding Using a Digital Signal Processing Board written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multi-Frequency Modulation has been the topic of several papers at NPS. In past systems the majority of time required for the generation of the MFM signal was due to the software routine used to implement the FFT. In this report a Digital Signal Processor was used to reduce the time needed to generate the FFT. The use of Trellis coding and Viterbi decoding on a Digital Signal Processor was also investigated. Assembly language programs for three encoder/ decoder systems were developed. The first uses a 16 QAM signal, the second uses a 2/3 rate convolutional encoder and Viterbi decoder and the third uses the V.32 convolutional encoder and a Viterbi decoder.

Book Bandwidth Efficient Digital Modulation with Application to Deep Space Communications

Download or read book Bandwidth Efficient Digital Modulation with Application to Deep Space Communications written by Marvin K. Simon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-03-04 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important look at bandwidth-efficient modulations with applications to today's Space program Based on research and results obtained at the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, this timely book defines, describes, and then delineates the performance (power and bandwidth) of digital communication systems that incorporate a wide variety of bandwidth-efficient modulations appropriate for the design and implementation of space communications systems. The author compares the performance of these systems in the presence of a number of practical (non-ideal) transmitter and receiver characteristics such as modulator and phase imbalance, imperfect carrier synchronization, and transmitter nonlinearity. Although the material focuses on the deep space applications developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the presentation is sufficiently broad as to be applicable to a host of other applications dealing with RF communications. An important contribution to the scientific literature, Bandwidth-Efficient Digital Modulation with Application to Deep Space Communications * was commissioned by the JPL Deep Space Communications and Navigation System Center of Excellence * highlights many NASA-funded technical contributions pertaining to deep space communications systems * is a part of the prestigious Deep Space Communications and Navigation Series The Deep Space Communications and Navigation Series is authored by scientists and engineers with extensive experience in astronautics, communications, and related fields. It lays the foundation for innovation in the areas of deep space navigation and communications by disseminating state-of-the-art knowledge in key technologies.

Book High Order Modulation for Optical Fiber Transmission

Download or read book High Order Modulation for Optical Fiber Transmission written by Matthias Seimetz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-24 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Catering to the current interest in increasing the spectral efficiency of optical fiber networks by the deployment of high-order modulation formats, this monograph describes transmitters, receivers and performance of optical systems with high-order phase and quadrature amplitude modulation. In the first part of the book, the author discusses various transmitter implementation options as well as several receiver concepts based on direct and coherent detection, including designs of new structures. Hereby, both optical and electrical parts are considered, allowing the assessment of practicability and complexity. In the second part, a detailed characterization of optical fiber transmission systems is presented, regarding a wide range of modulation formats. It provides insight in the fundamental behavior of different formats with respect to relevant performance degradation effects and identifies the major trends in system performance.
