Book The Depository Trust Company

Download or read book The Depository Trust Company written by William T Dentzer, Jr and published by YBK Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Depository Trust Company reports the early 1970s origin and evolution of The Depository Trust Company (DTC), the world's largest securities depository, and how it became the basis of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) in 1999. It describes the basic policies and company culture of DTC and DTCC and shows how these organizations made the clearance and settlement of virtually all trades in U.S. equity, corporate debt, and municipal securities more accurate and less costly, obliterating through automation the conditions that created the Wall Street "paperwork crisis" of the late 1960s.

Book Parliament of India the Eighth Lok Sabha 1985 89

Download or read book Parliament of India the Eighth Lok Sabha 1985 89 written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Study analyses-with the help of articles by distinguished Members of Parliament and others, data, etc.-socio-economic background of the members of Eighth Lok Sabha and their participation in the work of Parliament and varied activities of the House and its committees. Major procedural developments during the Eighth Lok Sabha were the amendments to the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha as a result of the first ever comprehensive review-since 1959 when these were adopted-to bring them in conformity with the actual practice that had evolved over the years through rulings from the Chair, precedents, conventions, etc. Yet another significant development was the strengthening of the parliamentary committee system by the setting of three new standing subject Committees-one each on Agriculture, Science & Technology and Environment & Forests. Full account of all these developments and other activities of the Eighth Lok Sabha is one of the several noteworthy features of this study. The reference value of the publication is further enhanced by the detailed statements and statistical tables, supplemented by introductory notes, which presents a comparative picture of the work done by previous eight Lok Sabhas and Central Legislative Assembly since 1929.

Book An Evolutionary Theory of Economic Change

Download or read book An Evolutionary Theory of Economic Change written by Richard R. Nelson and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 1985-10-15 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the most sustained and serious attack on mainstream, neoclassical economics in more than forty years. Nelson and Winter focus their critique on the basic question of how firms and industries change overtime. They marshal significant objections to the fundamental neoclassical assumptions of profit maximization and market equilibrium, which they find ineffective in the analysis of technological innovation and the dynamics of competition among firms. To replace these assumptions, they borrow from biology the concept of natural selection to construct a precise and detailed evolutionary theory of business behavior. They grant that films are motivated by profit and engage in search for ways of improving profits, but they do not consider them to be profit maximizing. Likewise, they emphasize the tendency for the more profitable firms to drive the less profitable ones out of business, but they do not focus their analysis on hypothetical states of industry equilibrium. The results of their new paradigm and analytical framework are impressive. Not only have they been able to develop more coherent and powerful models of competitive firm dynamics under conditions of growth and technological change, but their approach is compatible with findings in psychology and other social sciences. Finally, their work has important implications for welfare economics and for government policy toward industry.
