Book excerpt: During the early afternoon of January 12, 1986, the engine-room of the "T.D.Enterprise" was discovered to be flooding while the vessel was engaged in fishing operations off the southwest coast of Nova Scotia. Before any remedial action could be taken, the crew was forced to abandon the "T.D. Enterprise" and was subsequently rescued by another fishing vessel. The "T.D. Enterprise" sank a short time after the crew was rescued; however, there were no fatalities, injuries or pollution resulting from the incident. The reported value of the vessel was in the order of 1 million dollars.

Book excerpt: The "Margaret and Robert" was heading for Lurcher Shoal, N.S. from Yarmouth, N.S. to set lobster traps at the onset of a new season. Shortly after clearing Yarmouth Harbour, an initial slight port list increased progressively until water was being shipped over the gunwale. The lobster traps broke free and, although the vessel returned to the upright positon, only the stem and house-top were above water. After losing their liferaft, the crew were successfully rescued from the house-top by the fishing vessel "Leanna" and transported to Yarmouth. The vessel reportedly sank at 0754 November 24, 1986. At the time of sinking there was no apparent pollution and no injuries were sustained. However, 3 weeks later, during confirmation of the position of the vessel, a small slick of fuel oil was observed. The vessel was valued at approximately $55,000.

The injured deck-hand was transferred from the "Cape Bauld" to an oil drilling rig by an offshore supply vessel. he was subsequently transported from the oil drilling rig to Halifax, Nova Scotia by a Canadian Forces helicopter for medical treatment.
