To aid in the evaluation of these various methods, NAVTRAEQUIPCEN has developed a system which operates in conjunction with its TRADEC System to produce a pseudo real-time radar display. Simulation methods can be simulated on this system for comparison and evaluation. The objective of this report is to describe the software, developed in-house, which processes raw digital radar data to produce a 'baseline' simulation against which other methods may be compared. The software is functionally broken down into three tasks: terrain data processing, cultural data processing, and radar effects. It is written in a high-level language, FORTRAN, to facilitate experimentation and modification. (Author).

In addition, it describes the preparation of the culture data for the simulator. The data was digitized from maps and then joined together by means of a computer program. Finally some experiments on region size to determine the adequacy of PRA methods of terrain representation to handle long ranges were performed and the results reported here.
