Book excerpt: L’entrepreneuriat autochtone, au Canada et dans le monde, a fait l’objet d’une attention croissante pour son potentiel de réduction de la pauvreté et de la marginalisation sociale. Ainsi, la capacité d’une communauté autochtone à créer de la richesse dépend en partie de sa capacité à « adhérer » à l’économie et à établir des relations commerciales. Un réseau d’entreprises autochtones peut générer des connaissances et des opportunités sur le marché, ainsi qu’apporter des avantages mutuels au niveau des entreprises et des avantagessocio-économiques au niveau de la communauté. Bien que les avantages des réseaux d’entreprises aient été décrits dans la littérature, peu de recherches empiriques ont exploré ce concept dans le contexte des communautés autochtones. Le but de cette recherche est de mieux comprendre les besoins, les défis et les opportunités liés aux réseaux d’entreprises dans un contexte autochtone. Nous avons utilisé une approche exploratoire et nous avons collaboré avec la Filière forestière des Premières Nations du Québec (FFPNQ). Des entretiens semi-structurés ont été menés avec des représentants d’entreprises forestières autochtones. Cette recherche montre que les besoins exprimés pour un réseau d’entreprises autochtones correspondent à plusieurs éléments identifiés dans la littérature. Ceux-ci incluent un accès plus facile à l’information, le partage d’expertise, des contributions au bien-être collectif, une influence politique accrue et des opportunités pour développer de nouveaux marchés. De plus, nos résultats mettent en évidence plusieurs défis à la mise en place d’un réseau commercial autochtone : financement, confiance, distance entre les membres et soutien politique aux niveaux national et local. Cette recherche contribue à une meilleure compréhension des conditions qui favorisent le succès des entreprises autochtones. Pour les dirigeants politiques, cela peut guider l’élaboration de solutions plus efficaces pour répondre aux besoins du développement économique autochtone et de la création de richesses au niveau local.
