Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Family Law and Society in Europe from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Era

Download or read book Family Law and Society in Europe from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Era written by Maria Gigliola di Renzo Villata and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-04 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume addresses the study of family law and society in Europe, from medieval to contemporary ages. It examines the topic from a legal and social point of view. Furthermore, it investigates those aspects of the new family legal history that have not commonly been examined in depth by legal historians. The volume provides a new 'global' interpretative key of the development of family law in Europe. It presents essays about family and the Christian influence, family and criminal law, family and civil liability, filiation (legitimate, natural and adopted children), and family and children labour law. In addition, it explores specific topics related to marriage, such as the matrimonial property regime from a European comparative perspective, and impediments to marriage, such as bigamy. The book also addresses topics including family, society and European juridical science.

Download or read book What is Work written by Raffaella Sarti and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2018-09-21 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every society throughout history has defined what counts as work and what doesn’t. And more often than not, those lines of demarcation are inextricable from considerations of gender. What Is Work? offers a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding labor within the highly gendered realm of household economies. Drawing from scholarship on gender history, economic sociology, family history, civil law, and feminist economics, these essays explore the changing and often contested boundaries between what was and is considered work in different Euro-American contexts over several centuries, with an eye to the ambiguities and biases that have shaped mainstream conceptions of work across all social sectors.

Book Italy s Social Revolution

Download or read book Italy s Social Revolution written by M. Quine and published by Springer. This book was released on 2002-02-07 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of welfare can illuminate debate about some of the grand themes in modern Italian history - the question of the success or failure of nation-building; the question of the relative strengths and weaknesses of the state; and the question of continuity and discontinuity from liberalism to fascism. It can also deepen understanding of one of the most pressing problems confronting historians of Italian fascism - the question of the actual impact of fascist rule on Italian society. Despite this, surprisingly few scholars have done any work on this important topic. This book aims to contribute to scholarship on the social history of modern Italy by examining welfare thinking and policies from the nineteenth century to the fascist period.

Book Lawmaking and Adjudication in Archaic Greece

Download or read book Lawmaking and Adjudication in Archaic Greece written by Zinon Papakonstantinou and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2015-12-20 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Lawmaking and Adjudication in Archaic Greece" re-evaluates central aspects of the genesis and application of laws in the communities of archaic Greece, including the structure and function of legislative bodies, the composition of the courts, the administration of justice and the use and abuse of legal norms and procedures by litigants in the courts and everyday settings. Combining a detailed analysis of epigraphical and literary evidence and the application of a model of interpretation borrowed from cultural analyses of law, this book argues that far from being monolithic creations of archaic polities that unilaterally informed social life, archaic legal systems can be more appropriately viewed as ideologically polyvalent and socially complex. It includes legal norms and the administration of justice articulated associations with divine and secular authority but also incorporated, mainly in their reception and application by average citizens, discourses of utility and resistance that actively contributed in the composition of social relations.

  • Release : 2018-11-22
  • ISBN : 8827902201
  • Pages : 818 pages

Download or read book Trattato sulla famiglia 1 written by Andreace Tiziana and published by Key Editore. This book was released on 2018-11-22 with total page 818 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Succession Law Practice and Society in Europe across the Centuries

Download or read book Succession Law Practice and Society in Europe across the Centuries written by Maria Gigliola di Renzo Villata and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a broad overview of succession law, encompassing aspects of family law, testamentary law and legal history. It examines society and legal practice in Europe from the Middle Ages to the present from both a legal and a sociological perspective. The contributing authors investigate various aspects of succession law that have not yet been thoroughly examined by legal historians, and in doing so they not only add to our knowledge of past succession law but also provide a valuable key to interpreting and understanding current European succession law. Readers can explore such issues as the importance of a father’s permission to marry in relation to disinheritance, as well as inheritance transactions and private, dynastic and cross-border successions. Further themes addressed by the expert contributors include women’s inheritance rights, the laws of succession for the prince in legal consulting, and succession in the Rota Romana’s jurisprudence.
