Book Design and Operation of the Ceilometer Computer

Download or read book Design and Operation of the Ceilometer Computer written by Herman Paul Meissner and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ceilometer computer has been developed to provide a display and electrical readout of cloud-height information for use with an automatic weather station. The computer receives an analog signal from the detector of a rotating-beam ceilometer, and determines the height at which cloud indications occur. A small magnetic storage drum contains ten minutes of cloud-height information which is continuously updated, and these data are analyzed for the following factors: Predominant cloud height over the past 10 minutes; Maximum and minimum height at which significant cloud occurrences were observed; Number of cloud observations up to a selected critical altitude. The computer is a wired-program machine constructed of transistorized plug-in packages. Several modes of manual operation have been incorporated for testing and maintenance purposes.

Book excerpt: "I cracked up - for the first time - on June 4, 1988, three weeks short of completing my Masters degree in Psychology. Some would say I had a nervous breakdown. The psych ward doctors said it was major depression. I say that I saw just how evil my sin is in the eyes of God and it scared the hell out of me . . . I cobbled together some mad reality and blew a fuse . . . I lost my mind, never to be the same again. Thanks be to God! Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ!" - from the first chapter "I am honored to endorse this book. Not only does it chronicle the journey of one man's pain and ultimate redemption; but will provide the essential hope to many who are commonly afflicted. This story will declare good news to the poor and proclaim freedom to the captives!!" Rev. Bruce Edwards, Allison Park Church of the Assemblies of God Richard Jarzynka (Ya'Zhynka) earned his masters degree in psychology from Duquesne University in 1989. He attended Law School on a full-tuition, merit-based scholarship until being expelled within one day of the Dean learning that he has bipolar disorder. Rich worked as a counselor, psycho-therapist, and program director with troubled teens and their families from 1984 - 2003. He is currently studying toward ministry certification with the Assemblies of God. And he is not offended by being called crazy, goofy, screwy, loony, or by any other synonym for mentally ill.

Book Integrated Pest Management in Diverse Cropping Systems

Download or read book Integrated Pest Management in Diverse Cropping Systems written by Devendra Pal Singh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-02-01 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change has intensified in recent decades, which has affected crop production as well as facilitated the emergence of new diseases and insect pests, causing serious threats to agriculture. Farmers have mostly taken a crop-based approach to insect pest management (IPM); the authors of this new volume, however, take the unique approach that IPM based on specific cropping systems is more efficient, resulting in reduced cultivation costs, increased yield and profitability, and decreased residue from crop produce and products. This volume presents the results of research done by crop protection scientists on integrated pest management in diverse cropping systems based on rice, wheat, maize, pulses, food legumes, oilseeds, groundnut, potato, and other horticulture crops. With chapters written by well-known and experienced scientists in their fields, this volume provides in-depth knowledge on integrated pest management in conjunction with an array of specific cropping systems, taking into consideration all the elements, including the crops, crop sequences, spatial and temporal aspects of managing an agricultural system, and other aspects. This volume will be valuable for entomologists, plant pathologists, and agronomists, as well as for farmers—both small and industrial sized, agricultural extension centers, faculty and students, and many others involved with crop cultivation.
