Book Ultra Wideband Short Pulse Electromagnetics 2

Download or read book Ultra Wideband Short Pulse Electromagnetics 2 written by L. Carin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 591 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers published in this volume were presented at the Second International Conference on Ultra-WidebandiShort-Pulse (UWB/SP) Electromagnetics, ApriIS-7, 1994. To place this second international conference in proper perspective with respect to the first conference held during October 8-10, 1992, at Polytechnic University, some background information is necessary. As we had hoped, the first conference struck a responsive cord, both in timeliness and relevance, among the electromagnetic community 1. Participants at the first conference already inquired whether and when a follow-up meeting was under consideration. The first concrete proposal in this direction was made a few months after the first conference by Prof. A. Terzuoli of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Dayton, Ohio, who has been a strong advocate of time-domain methods and technologies. He initially proposed a follow-up time-domain workshop under AFIT auspices. Realizing that interest in this subject is lodged also at other Air Force installations, we suggested to enlarge the scope, and received in this endeavor the support of Dr. A. Nachman of AFOSR (Air Force Office of Scientific Research), Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

Book Millimicrosecond Pulse Techniques

Download or read book Millimicrosecond Pulse Techniques written by I. A. D. Lewis and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millimicrosecond Pulse Techniques, Second Edition focuses on millimicrosecond pulse techniques and the development of devices of large bandwidth, extending down to comparatively low frequencies (1 Mc/s). Emphasis is on basic circuit elements and pieces of equipment of universal application. Specific applications, mostly in the field of nuclear physics instrumentation, are considered. This book consists of eight chapters and opens with an introduction to some of the terminology employed by circuit engineers as well as theoretical concepts, including the laws of circuit analysis, Fourier analysis of pulse waveforms, and Laplace transforms. The next chapter is devoted to the theory of transmission lines and covers uniform rectilinear lines, helical lines, and lumped delay lines, along with some applications of transmission-line principles. Subsequent chapters explore transformers, pulse generators, amplifiers, and cathode ray oscilloscopes. Examples of applications of millimicrosecond pulse techniques in nuclear physics and other miscellaneous areas such as radar propagation measurements and high-speed photography are also presented. This monograph will be of interest to physicists and electronics engineers.

Book Pulsed Power

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gennady A. Mesyats
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2007-02-03
  • ISBN : 0306486547
  • Pages : 576 pages

Download or read book Pulsed Power written by Gennady A. Mesyats and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-02-03 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mesyats' Pulsed Power provides in-depth coverage of the generation of pulsed electric power, electron and ion beams, and various types of pulsed electromagnetic radiation. The electric power that can be produced by the methods described ranges from 106 to 1014W for pulse durations of 10-10-10-7s. The book consists of nine parts containing 28 chapters, which deal with various aspects of pulsed power and high-power electronics and cover a concise theory of electric circuits as applied to nanosecond pulse technology; physics of fast processes occurring in electrical discharges in vacuum, gases, and liquids; phenomena in long lines; mechanisms of operation and designs of high-power gas-discharge, plasma, and semiconductor closing and opening switches as well as of high-power electric pulse generators using these switches; solid-state (semiconductor and magnetic) methods of production and transformation of nanosecond high-power pulses; and methods of production of high-power pulsed electron and ion beams. The closing part describes methods applied to produce high-power nanosecond pulsed X-rays, laser beams, microwaves, and ultrawideband electromagnetic radiation. This all-embracing book covers gas, laser, semiconductor, and magnetic circuit elements, the phenomenon of explosive electron emission discovered by the author, diodes of various types, including semiconductor diodes based on the SOS effect discovered with participation of the author, and methods of production of various types of high-power pulsed radiation.

Book Transmission Lines

Download or read book Transmission Lines written by Richard Collier and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This rigorous treatment of transmission lines presents all the essential concepts in a clear and straightforward manner. Key principles are demonstrated by numerous practical worked examples and illustrations, and complex mathematics is avoided throughout. Early chapters cover pulse propagation, sinusoidal waves and coupled lines, all set within the context of a simple lossless equivalent circuit. Later chapters then develop this basic model by demonstrating the derivation of circuit parameters, and the use of Maxwell's equations to extend this theory to major transmission lines. Finally, a discussion of photonic concepts and properties provides valuable insights into the fundamental physics underpinning transmission lines. Covering DC to optical frequencies, this accessible text is an invaluable resource for students, researchers and professionals in electrical, RF and microwave engineering.
