Book excerpt: Diploma Thesis from the year 2006 in the subject Computer Science - Technical Computer Science, grade: 1,7, Free University of Berlin, language: English, abstract: Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) are digital games that allow a large number of players to interact and communicate in a virtual environment. Due to the different characteristics and preferences of the individual player, he (or she) can be categorized into certain player-types with a specific motivation for playing. In the course of the game, this knowledge about the player motivation can be used to dynamically adapt the game environment. To achieve this, different parts of the game content such as objects, background story or tasks, can be changed during run-time. The first part of this thesis presents an introduction to MMOGs, their possible classifications and their history. Furthermore ways to categorize players and to describe game content will be discussed. The programming aspect of this thesis shows the design and implementation of a middleware. The middleware logs player action and according to this categorizes the player into a certain player type. This is used for presenting user-specific game content.

Download or read book Automatisierung in der Inhaltsanalyse written by Katharina Sommer and published by Herbert von Halem Verlag. This book was released on 2014-11-10 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Organisation Management in the Digital Economy written by Anna Brzozowska and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-06-09 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the essence of information technology in the modern digital world in relation to improvements and threats to organisations and e-business in the era of the digital economy. Rapid IT development has created modern business proposals such as digital and virtual currencies, crowdfunding, peer-to-peer lending, mobile banking, online investing and new payment systems. This allows organisations and firms to increase competitiveness by using financial products and services, thus increasing their value. Information technology users receive significant timesaving and a choice of investment options. At the same time, there is a new challenge for regulators who must monitor how this or that technology affects the financial sector. The authors have collected and systematised information on the models of using information technology in e-business as well as issues of applying information technology in smart organisations and public institutions. The book addresses the issues of risk management in organizations and the problems of personal and social risks resulting from the use of information technology. In addition, the book presents a review of e-commerce sectors and models as well as e-commerce tools, international payment systems and modern money systems. Risks, threats and security rules for using banking services, e-commerce and payment systems are reviewed and systematised.

Download or read book ON OFF written by Sarah Genner and published by vdf Hochschulverlag AG. This book was released on 2017-01-03 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you constantly online? Or are you offline sometimes? Are you offline if you are not interacting with your connected devices? Or if no data about you is being collected? Do you check Instagram and Twitter during dinner? Do you turn off your smartphone at night? Do you check work emails on vacation? Do you feel you have to disconnect regularly – to relax, to concentrate, or to protect your privacy? Or do you feel more relaxed when constantly connected because your loved ones, a work emergency, or the news are always at your fingertips? Why are some people – even within networked societies – still completely offline given the tremendous opportunities of the Internet? And what does it even mean to be online or offline in the age of hyper-connectivity? In ON/OFF, Sarah Genner assesses the risks and rewards of the anytime-anywhere Internet, focusing on digital divides, social relationships, physical and mental health, and data privacy. She discusses implications for a variety of decision-makers in the world of work, in education, in families, and in politics. The author deconstructs the online/offline dichotomy and suggests the ON/OFF scale as a new theoretical framework for researchers and practitioners.
