Book The Art of Conversion

Download or read book The Art of Conversion written by Harvey J. Hames and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2000 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses Ramon Llull (ca. 1232-1316), the Christian missionary, philosopher and mystic, his relations with Jewish contemporaries, and how he integrated Jewish mystical teachings (Kabbalah) into his thought system so as to persuade the Jews to convert. Issues dealt with include Llull's attitude towards the Jews, his knowledge of Kabbalah, his theories regarding the Trinity and Incarnation (the Art), and the impact of his ideas on the Jewish community. The book challenges conventional scholarly opinion regarding Christian knowledge of contemporary Jewish thought and questions the assumption that Christians did not know or use Kabbalah before the Renaissance. Further, it suggests that Lull was well aware of ongoing intellectual and religious controversies within the Jewish community, as well as being the first Christian to acknowledge and appreciate Kabbalah as a tool for conversion.

Book Psicoterapia y espiritualidad

Download or read book Psicoterapia y espiritualidad written by Agneta Schreurs and published by . This book was released on 2004-01 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

The book examines this question by bringing together a panel of international scholars including psychologists, sociologists, and researchers in religious studies, public health, medicine, and social work. The content includes chapters describing innovative concepts of post-Christian spirituality, Eastern forms of meditation, afterlife beliefs associated with the three dominant cultural legacies, various non-religious worldviews, spiritual Jihad, and secular and religious reverence. Book Friendship and its Paradoxes

Download or read book Friendship and its Paradoxes written by Gustavo Barcellos and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-11 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays brings together papers written for, and presented at, the VI Latin American Congress of Jungian Psychology, held in Florianopolis, Brazil, in September 2012. The reader will find contributions by leading Jungian analysts in the continent from Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile, to Venezuela and Mexico. The essays here share discussions on issues pertinent to the social and cultural climate of different parts of Latin America, as well as the constantly challenging questions of psychotherapy. They present detailed psychological reflections on the specific theme chosen for the meeting at that time: friendship and its paradoxes. Fraternity, conflicts, tolerance and intolerance, mutuality, conjugal relationships, empathy, sympathy, self-esteem and envy, issues of psychotherapy, mythological amplifications, and perspectives on the possibilities of dialogue between people and nations are among the wide range of topics explored here. As such, this book will appeal to practitioners of psychotherapy, psychologists, and anthropologists, as well as the reader interested in how Jungian psychology is currently meeting the difficult challenges of a changing world.
