Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever had a friend or a family member experiencing a gut-rending, heart-wrenching crisis? And, you didn't know what to say to them, or, to give the reassurance that GOD will take care of all their needs? Now, you can give them a copy of Prosperity Is Promised. Here, the word prosperity is used in the much broader sense. Prosperity often encompasses wealth but also includes others factors which can be independent of wealth, such as happiness and health. As Christians, we can expect unknown boundless joy in heaven, Matthew 5:12. But, I'm convinced that GOD cares about our joy while we are living, John 10:10. Prosperity Is Promised is the result of several years of researching the bible in the original languages. It was important to me to understand the full meaning of the Scriptures, especially how it relates to us personally and while we are living. After many years of going line by line, Prosperity Is Promised was created with very few comments by me, but it's fully-referenced to the Scriptures. I felt that the word of GOD doesn't need my commentary. The word of GOD can speak for itself. The word of GOD is living and powerful. Hebrews 4:12.

Book The New Capitalist Manifesto

Download or read book The New Capitalist Manifesto written by Umair Haque and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2011-01-04 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this manifesto-style book, radical economist and strategist Umair Haque calls for the end of the corrupt business ideals that exemplify business as usual. His passionate vision for "Capitalism 2.0," or "constructive capitalism," is one in which old paradigms of wasteful growth, inefficient competition, and self-destructive ideals are left far behind at this reset moment. According the Haque, the economic crisis was not a market failure or even a financial crisis, but an institutional one. Haque details a holistic five-step plan for both reducing the negative and exploitive nature of the current system and ensuring positive social and economic growth for the future. Haque calls for a reexamination of ideals, and urges business away from competition and rivalries and toward a globally-conscious and constructive model--and a constructive future. Haque argues that companies must learn to orient their business models around: - renewal in order to maximize efficiency - equity in order to maximize productivity - meaning in order to maximize effectiveness - democracy in order to maximize agility - peace in order to maximize evolvability These new business ideals focus on the human element - not profit exclusively - and are easily tailored for any size or type of business, as long as they are willing to make bold and sustained changes to the current system.

Book How the Rich are Destroying the Earth

Download or read book How the Rich are Destroying the Earth written by Hervé Kempf and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A best seller in France, and already translated into Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Korean, Hervé Kempf'sHow the Rich Are Destroying the Earth now appears in its first English edition. Bringing to bear more than twenty years of experience as an environmental journalist, Kempf describes the invincibility that many of the world's wealthy feel in the face of global warming, and how their unchecked privilege is thwarting action on the single most vexing problem facing our world. In this important primer on the link between global ecology and the global economy, Kempf makes the following observations: First, that the planet's ecological situation is growing ever worse, despite the efforts of millions of engaged citizens around the world. And second, despite environmentalists' emphasis that "we're all in the same boat," the world's economic elites--who continue to benefit by plundering the environment--have access to "lifeboats" that insulate them from the resulting catastrophes.Societies have not been able to effectively combat the expanding ecological crisis because it is intimately linked to the social crisis in which the ruling form of capitalism has been organized to impede democratic initiatives. This link explains the failure to make progress against the greatest emergency of our time, because in this relationship the oligarchy plays an essential and destructive role. For this reason, solving the ecological crisis depends on disrupting the power of the world's elite. We cannot understand the entwined ecological and social crises, Kempf argues, if we don't see them as the two sides of the same disaster--a disaster that comes from a system piloted by a dominant social strata that has no drive other than greed, no ideal other than conservatism, no dream other than technology. But Kempf also calls for measured optimism: "Despite the scale of the challenges that await us, solutions are emerging and--faced with the sinister prospects the oligarchs promote--the desire to remake the world is being reborn."

Book Hesiod s Ascra

  • Publisher : Univ of California Press
  • Release : 2004-02-26
  • ISBN : 9780520929579
  • Pages : 234 pages

Download or read book Hesiod s Ascra written by Anthony T. Edwards and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2004-02-26 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Works and Days, one of the two long poems that have come down to us from Hesiod, the poet writes of farming, morality, and what seems to be a very nasty quarrel with his brother Perses over their inheritance. In this book, Anthony T. Edwards extracts from the poem a picture of the social structure of Ascra, the hamlet in northern Greece where Hesiod lived, most likely during the seventh century b.c.e. Drawing on the evidence of trade, food storage, reciprocity, and the agricultural regime as Hesiod describes them in Works and Days, Edwards reveals Ascra as an autonomous village, outside the control of a polis, less stratified and integrated internally than what we observe even in Homer. In light of this reading, theconflict between Hesiod and Perses emerges as a dispute about the inviolability of the community's external boundary and the degree of interobligation among those within the village. Hesiod's Ascra directly counters the accepted view of Works and Days, which has Hesiod describing a peasant society subordinated to the economic and political control of an outside elite. Through his deft analysis, Edwards suggests a new understanding of both Works and Days and the social and economic organization of Hesiod's time and place.
