Book excerpt: This volume contains the selected papers of the first I.D.M.M.E. conference on 'Integrated Design and Manufacturing in Mechanical Engineering', held in Nantes from 15-17 April 1996. Its objective was to discuss the questions related to the definition of the optimal design and manufacturing processes and to their integration through coherent methodologies in adapted environments. The initiative of the Conference and the organization thereof, is mainly due to the efforts of the french PRIMECA group (Pool of Computer Resources for Mechanics) started eight years ago. We were able to attract the internationru community with the support of the International Institution for Production Engineering Research (C.I.R.P.). The conference brought together two hundred and fifty specialists from around the world. About ninety papers and twenty posters were presented covering three main topics : optimization and evaluation of the product design process, optimization and evaluation of the manufacturing systems and methodological aspects.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: powerful operations on them. An early step in this direction was the development of APl, and more recent examples have been SETl which enables a user to code in terms of mathematical enti ties such as sets and BDl which allows a user, presumably a businessman, to specify a computation in terms of a series of tabular forms and a series of processing paths through which data flows. The design and implementation of such languages are examined in chapters by P. GOLDBERG. Another extension to traditional methods is made possible by systems designed to automatically handle low level flow-of control decisions. All the above higher level languages do this implicitly with their built in operators. PROLOG is a language which does this with a theorem proving mechanism employing primarily unification and backtracking. The programmer specifies the problem to be solved with a set of formal logic statements including a theorem to be proved. The theorem proving system finds a way to combine the axioms to prove the theorem, and in the process, it completes the desired calculation. H. GAllAIRE has contributed a chapter describing PROLOG giving many examples of its usage.

Book The Order of Minims in Seventeenth Century France

Download or read book The Order of Minims in Seventeenth Century France written by P.J.S. Whitmore and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thinking of the text from the Dies frae (S. Matthew, XXV, 40). It is also probable that this other Saint Francis, partly out of admiration for his illustrious compatriot of Assisi and partly from a compelling urge to be superlative in all things, chose the title in opposition to the Franciscans, the Fratres Minori, l who had previously adopted this style taken from Saint Matthew, XXIII, 8. The title "Minim" was confirmed in these words" ... eosque Eremitos Ordinis Minimorum Fratrum Eremitarum F. Francesci de Paula in posterum nuncupari," taken from the Papal Bull, Meritis religiosae vitae, of 26 February, 1493. The earliest reference to the Order in France is in a fragment preserved in the Bibliotheque de l'Arsenal called, La regle et vie de Frere Franfois, pauvre et humble hermite de Paule, laquelle donne a tous ses 2 freres voulant entrer et vivre en son ordre. The dating of this manuscript should be accepted with considerable reserve; it bears a clearly legible "1474," although it seems most unlikely that any reference to an Order occurred before the Bull of 1493 or that any Rule appeared in French before the Founder's visit to Louis XI in 1483. 3 The fame of Francis and his reputation as a "guerisseur" had reached the French court where Louis XI was sick and dying; the King summoned him to the chateau of Le Plessis-Ies-Tours, but it required the intervention of the Pope to make the hermit undertake the journey

Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “A fascinating look at how consumers perceive logos, ads, commercials, brands, and products.”—Time How much do we know about why we buy? What truly influences our decisions in today’s message-cluttered world? In Buyology, Martin Lindstrom presents the astonishing findings from his groundbreaking three-year, seven-million-dollar neuromarketing study—a cutting-edge experiment that peered inside the brains of 2,000 volunteers from all around the world as they encountered various ads, logos, commercials, brands, and products. His startling results shatter much of what we have long believed about what captures our interest—and drives us to buy. Among the questions he explores: • Does sex actually sell? • Does subliminal advertising still surround us? • Can “cool” brands trigger our mating instincts? • Can our other senses—smell, touch, and sound—be aroused when we see a product? Buyology is a fascinating and shocking journey into the mind of today's consumer that will captivate anyone who's been seduced—or turned off—by marketers' relentless attempts to win our loyalty, our money, and our minds.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: CETTE THESE S'INSCRIT DANS LE DOMAINE DE L'INTELLIGENCE ARTIFICIELLE APPLIQUEE AU PROBLEME DE LA MODELISATION DE SYSTEMES DYNAMIQUES. NOUS DECRIVONS L'ARCHITECTURE D'UN GENERATEUR DE SYSTEMES EXPERTS D'AIDE A LA MODELISATION: SAMMED, BASE SUR UNE REPRESENTATION CENTREE-OBJET (SHIRKA). NOTRE OBJECTIF EST DE FOURNIR UNE REELLE ASSISTANCE AU COURS DE PROCESSUS DE MODELISATION. DANS CETTE OPTIQUE NOUS PROPOSONS UNE METHODOLOGIE DE MODELISATION PRECONISANT L'EMPLOI DE MODELES DE NATURES DIFFERENTS ET DE NIVEAUX D'ABSTRACTION CROISSANTS, DU QUALITATIF VERS LE QUANTITATIF VIA LE MODELE STRUCTUREL. UNE ANALYSE DE L'ACTIVITE DE L'UTILISATEUR NON-EXPERT NOUS A PERMIS DE SPECIFIER L'ARCHITECTURE DU SAMMED PRENANT EN COMPTE LES BESOINS EN TERME DE CONNAISSANCES DE L'UTILISATEUR. L'ARCHITECTURE DU SYSTEME EST MODULAIRE, ELLE EST CONSTITUEE PRINCIPALEMENT D'UN MODULE DE CONNAISSANCE STRUCTURE EN PLUSIEURS NIVEAUX, D'UN MODULE D'ASSISTANCE AXE SUR LE CONCEPT DE TACHE ET DE MODULES EXTERIEURS (BIBLIOTHEQUES SCIENTIFIQUES). LA PRISE EN COMPTE DE L'UTILISATEUR LORS DE LA CONCEPTION DE LA BASE DE CONNAISSANCE SE TRADUIT PAR LA PRESENCE DE TACHES NON-EXPERTES DE RECHERCHE D'INFORMATION AINSI QUE DE CRITERES DE CLASSIFICATION DE CONCEPTS SELON UN POINT DE VUE NON-EXPERT. UN EXEMPLE D'APPLICATION DE SAMMED EST DONNE, OU NOUS PRESENTONS EDORA UN SYSTEME D'AIDE A LA MODELISATION EN BIOLOGIE. CEPENDANT, UN SYSTEME INTELLIGENT D'ASSISTANCE DEVRAIT AUSSI PERMETTRE L'ACQUISITION PAR L'UTILISATEUR D'UN SAVOIR SUPPLEMENTAIRE AU COURS DE L'INTERACTION. NOUS PRESENTONS LES CONCEPTS DE BASE D'UN MODELE DE TACHE DONT LE BUT EST D'ASSURER L'APPRENTISSAGE DE L'UTILISATEUR PAR L'ACTION. L'INTEGRATION D'UN MODELE D'APPRENTISSAGE AU SEIN DU SYSTEME EXPERT DEVRAIT PERMETTRE LA CONCEPTION DE SYSTEMES PERFORMANTS D'ASSISTANCE

Book Intelligence artificielle et syst me d information le langage naturel

Download or read book Intelligence artificielle et syst me d information le langage naturel written by Marie-France Blanquet and published by FeniXX. This book was released on 1994-01-01T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
