Book Generalized proportional con ict redistribution rule applied to Sonar imagery and Radar targets classi cation

Download or read book Generalized proportional con ict redistribution rule applied to Sonar imagery and Radar targets classi cation written by Arnaud Martin and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this chapter, we present two applications in information fusion in order to evaluate the generalized proportional conflict redistribution rule presented in chapter [7]. Most of the time the combination rules are evaluated only on simple examples. We study here different combination rules and compare them in terms of decision on real data. Indeed, in real applications, we need a reliable decision and it is the final results that matter. Two applications are presented here: a fusion of human experts opinions on the kind of underwater sediments depicted on a sonar image and a classifier fusion for radar targets recognition.

Book AN INTRODUCTION TO DSMT IN INFORMATION FUSION

Download or read book AN INTRODUCTION TO DSMT IN INFORMATION FUSION written by Jean Dezert and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The management and combination of uncertain, imprecise, fuzzy and even paradoxical or highly confliicting sources of information has always been, and still remains today, of primal importance for the development of reliable modern information systems involving artificial reasoning. In this introduction, we present a survey of our recent theory of plausible and paradoxical reasoning, known as Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT), developed for dealing with imprecise, uncertain and conflicting sources of information. We focus our presentation on the foundations of DSmT and on its most important rules of combination, rather than on browsing specific applications ofDSmT available in literature. Several simple examples are given throughout this presentation to show the effciency and the generality of this new theory.

This book was released on 2023-12-27 with total page 932 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This fifth volume on Advances and Applications of DSmT for Information Fusion collects theoretical and applied contributions of researchers working in different fields of applications and in mathematics, and is available in open-access. The collected contributions of this volume have either been published or presented after disseminating the fourth volume in 2015 (available at fs.unm.edu/DSmT-book4.pdf or www.onera.fr/sites/default/files/297/2015-DSmT-Book4.pdf) in international conferences, seminars, workshops and journals, or they are new. The contributions of each part of this volume are chronologically ordered. First Part of this book presents some theoretical advances on DSmT, dealing mainly with modified Proportional Conflict Redistribution Rules (PCR) of combination with degree of intersection, coarsening techniques, interval calculus for PCR thanks to set inversion via interval analysis (SIVIA), rough set classifiers, canonical decomposition of dichotomous belief functions, fast PCR fusion, fast inter-criteria analysis with PCR, and improved PCR5 and PCR6 rules preserving the (quasi-)neutrality of (quasi-)vacuous belief assignment in the fusion of sources of evidence with their Matlab codes. Because more applications of DSmT have emerged in the past years since the apparition of the fourth book of DSmT in 2015, the second part of this volume is about selected applications of DSmT mainly in building change detection, object recognition, quality of data association in tracking, perception in robotics, risk assessment for torrent protection and multi-criteria decision-making, multi-modal image fusion, coarsening techniques, recommender system, levee characterization and assessment, human heading perception, trust assessment, robotics, biometrics, failure detection, GPS systems, inter-criteria analysis, group decision, human activity recognition, storm prediction, data association for autonomous vehicles, identification of maritime vessels, fusion of support vector machines (SVM), Silx-Furtif RUST code library for information fusion including PCR rules, and network for ship classification. Finally, the third part presents interesting contributions related to belief functions in general published or presented along the years since 2015. These contributions are related with decision-making under uncertainty, belief approximations, probability transformations, new distances between belief functions, non-classical multi-criteria decision-making problems with belief functions, generalization of Bayes theorem, image processing, data association, entropy and cross-entropy measures, fuzzy evidence numbers, negator of belief mass, human activity recognition, information fusion for breast cancer therapy, imbalanced data classification, and hybrid techniques mixing deep learning with belief functions as well. We want to thank all the contributors of this fifth volume for their research works and their interests in the development of DSmT, and the belief functions. We are grateful as well to other colleagues for encouraging us to edit this fifth volume, and for sharing with us several ideas and for their questions and comments on DSmT through the years. Book Advances and Challenges in Multisensor Data and Information Processing

Download or read book Advances and Challenges in Multisensor Data and Information Processing written by E. Lefebvre and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2007-05-11 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information fusion resulting from multi-source processing, often called multisensor data fusion when sensors are the main sources of information, is a relatively young (less than 20 years) technology domain. It provides techniques and methods for: Integrating data from multiple sources and using the complementarity of this data to derive maximum information about the phenomenon being observed; Analyzing and deriving the meaning of these observations; Selecting the best course of action; and Controlling the actions. Various sensors have been designed to detect some specific phenomena, but not others. Data fusion applications can combine synergically information from many sensors, including data provided by satellites and contextual and encyclopedic knowledge, to provide enhanced ability to detect and recognize anomalies in the environment, compared with conventional means. Data fusion is an integral part of multisensor processing, but it can also be applied to fuse non-sensor information (geopolitical, intelligence, etc.) to provide decision support for a timely and effective situation and threat assessment. One special field of application for data fusion is satellite imagery, which can provide extensive information over a wide area of the electromagnetic spectrum using several types of sensors (Visible, Infra-Red (IR), Thermal IR, Radar, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Polarimetric SAR (PolSAR), Hyperspectral...). Satellite imagery provides the coverage rate needed to identify and monitor human activities from agricultural practices (land use, crop types identification...) to defence-related surveillance (land/sea target detection and classification). By acquiring remotely sensed imagery over earth regions that land sensors cannot access, valuable information can be gathered for the defence against terrorism. This books deals with the following research areas: Target recognition/classification and tracking; Sensor systems; Image processing; Remote sensing and remote control; Belief functions theory; and Situation assessment.

Book Flexible Risk Evidence Combination Rules in Breast Cancer Precision Therapy

Download or read book Flexible Risk Evidence Combination Rules in Breast Cancer Precision Therapy written by Michael Kenn and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evidence theory by Dempster-Shafer for determination of hormone receptor status in breast cancer samples was introduced in our previous paper. One major topic pointed out here is the link between pieces of evidence found from different origins. In this paper the challenge of selecting appropriate ways of fusing evidence, depending on the type and quality of data involved is addressed. A parameterized family of evidence combination rules, covering the full range of potential needs, from emphasizing discrepancies in the measurements to aspiring accordance, is covered. The consequences for real patient samples are shown by modeling different decision strategies.

Book Fusion of Identification Information from ESM Sensors and Radars Using Dezert Smarandache Theory Rules

Download or read book Fusion of Identification Information from ESM Sensors and Radars Using Dezert Smarandache Theory Rules written by Tadeusz Pietkiewicz and published by Infinite Study. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents a method of fusion of identification (attribute) information provided by two types of sensors: combined primary and secondary (IFF) surveillance radars and ESM (Electronic Support measures). In the first section, the basic taxonomy of attribute identification is adopted in accordance with the standards of STANAG 1241 ed. 5 and STANAG 1241 ed. 6 (draft). These standards provide the following basic values of the attribute identifications: FRIEND, HOSTILE, NEUTRAL, UNKNOWN and additional values: ASSUMED FRIEND and SUSPECT. The basis of theoretical considerations is Dezert‐Smarandache theory (DSmT) of inference. The paper presents and practically uses for combining identification information from different ESM sensors and radars six information fusion rules proposed by DSmT ‐ the Proportional Conflict Redistribution rules (PCR1, PCR2, PCR3, PCR4, PCR5 and PCR6). In the paper, rules of determining attribute information by ESM sensor equipped with the data base of radar emitters are presented. It was proposed that each signal vector sent by the ESM sensor contained an extension specifying a randomized identification declaration (hypothesis) ‐ basic belief assignment (BBA). The paper also presents a model for determining the basic belief assignment for a combined primary and secondary radar. Results of the PCR rules of sensor information combining for different scenarios of radio‐electronic situation (deterministic and Monte Carlo) are presented in the final part of the paper. They confirm the legitimacy of the use of Dezert‐Smarandache theory into information fusion for primary radars, secondary radars and ESM sensors.
