Book Physics Experiments with Arduino and Smartphones

Download or read book Physics Experiments with Arduino and Smartphones written by Giovanni Organtini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-06 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on the use of Arduino and Smartphones in physics experiments, with a focus on mechanics, introduces various techniques by way of examples. The main aim is to teach students how to take meaningful measurements and how to interpret them. Each topic is introduced by an experiment. Those at the beginning of the book are rather simple to build and analyze. As the lessons proceed, the experiments become more refined and new techniques are introduced. Rather than providing recipes to be adopted while taking measurements, the need for new concepts is raised by observing the results of an experiment. A formal justification is given only after a concept has been introduced experimentally. The discussion extends beyond the taking of measurements to their meaning in terms of physics, the importance of what is learned from the laws that are derived, and their limits. Stress is placed on the importance of careful design of experiments as to reduce systematic errors and on good practices to avoid common mistakes. Data are always analyzed using computer software. C-like structures are introduced in teaching how to program Arduino, while data collection and analysis is done using Python. Several methods of graphical representation of data are used.

Book How is Your MPA Doing

Download or read book How is Your MPA Doing written by Robert S. Pomeroy and published by IUCN. This book was released on 2004 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Guidebook which aims to improve MPA management by providing a framework that links the goals and objectives of MPAs with indicators that measure management effectiveness. The framework and indicators were field-tested in 18 sites around the world, and results of these pilots were incorporated into the guidebook. Published as a result of a 4-year partnership of IUCN's World Commission on Protected Areas-Marine, World Wildlife Fund, and the NOAA National Ocean Service International Program Office.

Book Advanced Modal Analysis

Download or read book Advanced Modal Analysis written by Giuseppe Conciauro and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2000-02-03 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Single mode equivalent network representations have been a key tool for the industrial design and development of a large variety of microwave systems. The reduced dimensions and increased complexity of modern microwave equipment, however, makes the inclusion of the higher order mode interactions essential for the correct industrial design and optimization of all microwave hardware. In this context, the analytical techniques originally exploited to develop single mode networks have recently been extended to produce multi-mode algorithms that can form the basis of fast and accurate Computer Aided Design tools. Furthermore, alternative multi-modal techniques, involving resonant rather than guided modes, have recently been developed for the design of waveguide components of arbitrary shape. This book describes in detail a number of modern multi-modal techniques for the analysis and design of passive microwave components. The authors comprehensively cover modal analysis of waveguides and cavities; discuss several multi-mode procedures for the study of both basic and arbitrarily shaped waveguide junctions and, finally, describe specific applications such as inductively coupled filters, waveguide couplers, metal insert and dual-mode filters. The book will be of interest to professional engineers and researchers in the microwave engineering field as well as students engaged in research at an advanced level. Distinctive features of this book include: * detailed explanation of several multi-mode analysis techniques for the analysis of waveguide components based on both canonical and arbitrary waveguide profiles * measured versus simulated results for a number of specific application examples * accompanying software that allows the reader to input their own data thereby demonstrating how the techniques described can be effectively used to develop fast and accurate CAD tools.

Download or read book Global Occupational Health written by Tee L. Guidotti and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2011-03-11 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Occupational Health is a concise, complete introduction to a vital-but often neglected-area in the field of health sciences. Work-related illnesses and injuries are critical concerns for every country and at every stage of economic development and an important determinant of health and financial security for working adults and their families. As a comprehensive textbook designed for students, professionals in public health, and occupational health practitioners who are working across international boundaries, this book will provide the reader with solid foundational knowledge of occupational health through the lens of economic development. Perfect for use as both a stand-alone text or as supplementary reading, this book addresses worker protection and the management of occupational health from rich industrialized countries to developing societies. The first section of the book concentrates on broad approaches and frameworks for the investigation and management of health in the workplace. The second section addresses important hazards. The third section addresses specific industry sectors, management challenges, and policies at the global level. Each chapter links occupational health to economic development concepts and future trends. The contributed chapters are authored by international experts in the field, enriched by boxed case studies and supportive concrete examples. This work sets a new standard for education in occupational health.

Book DiQuMaSPAB

    Book Details:
  • Author : Francesco Tornabene
  • Publisher : Società Editrice Esculapio
  • Release : 2018-02-09
  • ISBN : 889385063X
  • Pages : 109 pages

Download or read book DiQuMaSPAB written by Francesco Tornabene and published by Società Editrice Esculapio. This book was released on 2018-02-09 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main aim of this book is to show the features of DiQuMASPAB so ware through the description of its graphical interface, by giving special emphasis to all those aspects implemented in the code. DiQuMASPAB, acronym of “Differential Quadrature for Mechanics of Anisotropic Shells, Plates, Arches and Beams”, is a computational code, which can be used for the numerical analysis of doubly curved shells made of innovative materials, using the Generalized Differential Quadrature (GDQ) and the Generalized Integral Quadrature (GIQ) methods. The software can investigate the mechanical behavior of these structures through different approaches and structural theories. In particular, this code allows considering a kinematic expansion characterized by different degrees of freedom for the Equivalent Single Layer (ESL) theories and for each layer when the Layer-Wise (LW) approach is taken into account. As far as the materials are concerned, it is possible to consider different lamination schemes, as well as various distributions of the volume fraction of the constituents for those layers that vary their mechanical properties along the thickness. In addition, the software analyzes structures with variable thickness and characterized by variable mechanical properties that can change point by point. A finite element formulation is also available to investigate the mechanical behavior of plane structures characterized by irregular domains and mechanical discontinuities.
