Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Profitable Authorship: How to Write and Where to Sell Short Stories, and Other Manuscripts Man is a creator and the author is an architect. He who builds railroads is just as truly a creator as he who builds worlds, and he who constructs a story is as truly a master mechanic as he who brings great structures or great cities into being. Most men who feel that life is a failure are they who have never created anything. To be a constant consumer and never a creator is to miss the mark in life. The men who dare things and do things find life worth while. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Economic Analysis of the Digital Economy

Download or read book Economic Analysis of the Digital Economy written by Avi Goldfarb and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2015-05-08 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a small and growing literature that explores the impact of digitization in a variety of contexts, but its economic consequences, surprisingly, remain poorly understood. This volume aims to set the agenda for research in the economics of digitization, with each chapter identifying a promising area of research. "Economics of Digitization "identifies urgent topics with research already underway that warrant further exploration from economists. In addition to the growing importance of digitization itself, digital technologies have some features that suggest that many well-studied economic models may not apply and, indeed, so many aspects of the digital economy throw normal economics in a loop. "Economics of Digitization" will be one of the first to focus on the economic implications of digitization and to bring together leading scholars in the economics of digitization to explore emerging research.

Book Portraying Authorship

Download or read book Portraying Authorship written by Anita Savo and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2024-05-01 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Portraying Authorship argues that the medieval Castilian writer Juan Manuel fashioned a seemingly modern authorial persona from the accumulation and synthesis of medieval authorial roles. In the manuscript culture of medieval Castile and across Latin Europe, writers typically referred to their work in ways that corresponded to their role in the bookmaking process: scribes took credit for preserving the works of others, compilers for combining disparate texts in productive ways, commentators for explaining obscure works, and authors for writing their own words. Combining literary analysis with book history, Anita Savo reveals how Juan Manuel forged his authorial persona, “Don Juan,” by adopting all four medieval writerly roles, thereby reaping the ethical benefits of each one. Each chapter in Portraying Authorship highlights a different authorial role to show how Don Juan – and others who wrote in his name – assumed responsibility for that role and adapted its rhetoric to his vernacular literary project. The book concludes that Don Juan’s authorial self-portrait not only gave the humanist writers of the fifteenth century a model to imitate, but also persuaded subsequent scribes, editors, and translators to portray him as an individual author. In doing so, Portraying Authorship illuminates how Juan Manuel’s concept of authorship helped to secure him a privileged position in narratives of Spanish literary history.
