Book excerpt: As a follow-up to the Handbook of Gasification Technology, also from Wiley-Scrivener, Synthesis Gas goes into more depth on how the products from this important technology can reduce our global carbon footprint and lead the United States, and other countries, toward energy independence. The environmental benefits are very high, and, along with carbon capture and renewable fuels, synthesis gas (or syngas) is a huge step toward environmental sustainability. Synthesis gas is one of the most important advancements that has ever occurred in energy production. Using this technology, for example, coal, biomass, waste products, or a combination of two or more of these can be gasified into a product that has roughly half the carbon footprint of coal alone. Used on a massive scale, just think of the potential for reducing carbon emissions! Synthesis Gas covers all aspects of the technology, from the chemistry, processes, and production, to the products, feedstocks, and even safety in the plant. Whether a veteran engineer or scientist using it as a reference or a professor using it as a textbook, this outstanding new volume is a must-have for any library.

  • Release : 2009
  • ISBN : 9781607418412
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Syngas written by Adorjan Kurucz and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Syngas is the name given to a gas mixture that contains varying amounts of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Examples of production methods include steam reforming of natural gas or liquid hydrocarbons to produce hydrogen, the gasification of coal and in some types of waste-to-energy gasification facilities. Syngas is also used as an intermediate in producing synthetic petroleum for use as a fuel or lubricant via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and previously the Mobil methanol to gasoline process. Syngas consists primarily of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and very often some carbon dioxide, and has less than half the energy density of natural gas. It is combustible and often used as a fuel source or as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals. This new book gathers the latest research from around the globe in this dynamic field covering topics such as syngas production from biomass generated gases, recent developments of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalysts, syngas cleaning technologies, and new syngas utilizations at different stages of deployment."--Publisher's description.

This book was released on 2008 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Syngas written by Antonius Indarto and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2012-03 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The production and purification technology of syngas has received huge attention from researchers and industries for the last few years because its development represents one of the major efforts toward more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally benign use of the fossil hydrocarbon resources. The decline of global fossil fuels -- petroleum, natural gas, and coal supplies and the need for clean and alternative energy have become major motives of research world-wide for sustainable energy development. The energy supply of the world today still heavily relies on combustion of fossil fuels for stationary systems, domestic use, and transportation vehicles. Alternative fuels, are needed to fill the supply gap that will continue to grow. This book focuses on syngas technology as well as its production, applications and impact on the environment.

Book Gaz naturel Le

    Book Details:
  • Author : Alexandre Rojey
  • Publisher : Editions TECHNIP
  • Release : 2013-05-03
  • ISBN : 2710810131

Download or read book Gaz naturel Le written by Alexandre Rojey and published by Editions TECHNIP. This book was released on 2013-05-03 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Table des matières : 1. 2. Le gaz non conventionnel. 3. Formation du gaz naturel. 4. Propriétés physico-chimiques du gaz naturel. 5. Modélisation des propriétés thermodynamiques. 6. Production du gaz naturel. 7. Les hydrates. 8. Traitement du gaz naturel. 9.
