Book Processing and Testing ENDF

Download or read book Processing and Testing ENDF written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NJOY Nudear Data Processing System has been used to process the Evaluated Nuclear Data File ENDF/B-VI, including all changes through Release 2, into multigroup cross-section libraries that can be used with many different neutron/photon transport codes and into ACE format for use with the MCNP continuous-energy Monte Carlo code. The ENDF-6 format contains a number of new features of interest to reactor physics, and many of the new evaluations take advantage of these features to provided improved data. The changes to the NJOY system required to process these new evaluations are described. The new cross-section libraries have been used to test the performance of ENDF/B-VI for a number of familiar benchmarks. The results are compared to ENDF/B-V results to give an idea of how the new libraries will perform for reactor physics calculations.

Book Data Testing for ENDF

Download or read book Data Testing for ENDF written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Calculations have been performed for 390 critical assemblies from the International Handbook of Evaluated Criticality Safety Benchmark Experiments using the beta2 release of ENDF/B-VII. 1. The results are compared to previous results for ENDF/B-VII. Cases that changed between the two versions are highlighted, and the results are discussed. The Cross Section Evaluation Working Group (CSEWG) is working on a new release of the ENDF/B-VII library of evaluated nuclear data, and the 'beta2' set of files was recently made available by the National Nuclear Data Center (NNDC). A set of about 850 input files for the MCNP Monte Carlo code to run critical assemblies from the International Handbook of Evaluated Criticality Safety Benchmark Experiments was available from our previous data testing work for ENDF/B-VII.0. We have now run 390 of those cases using data based on the beta2 files, and those results will be presented below. The ENDF files were downloaded from the NNDC to a Mac workstation. They were then processed using NJOY10 into ACE format files for use in the MCNP Monte Carlo code. The processing was limited to materials needed for the data testing work at this point. The existing MCNP input decks were used. No checking was done to see if any of the benchmarks had been updated since the ENDF/B-VII testing was finished. Most runs used 50 million histories in order to get Monte Carlo statistical uncertainties down the 0.01% range.

Book excerpt: The Symposium on Nuclear Data Evaluation Methodology provided a forum for the discussion of developments made over the past 12 years in the evaluation methods used for generating data files for applied technology. With a program that was prepared by an international committee of experts in this field, this set of proceedings gives a comprehensive overview of the development and progress of this field for the last 12 years. It serves as an important source of reference and historical update for those seeking an in-depth understanding of this study.

Book excerpt: A number of the fast reactor and thermal reactor benchmarks have been analyzed using nuclear data from ENDF/B-VI Release 2. Data were prepared with the NJOY nuclear data processing system in MATXS and ACE formats. Transport calculations were preformed with ONEDANT and TWODANT using transport tables prepared by the TRANSX code and with the MCNP Monte Carlo code.

Book excerpt: What does a Fortune 500 company implementing a multimillion dollar "off the shelf" system have in common with a 150 person firm building its own system? In each case, the organization failed to activate and utilize its system as initially conceived by senior management. These two organizations are hardly alone. On the contrary, more than three in five new systems fail. Many miss their deadlines. Others exceed their initial budgets, often by ghastly amounts. Even systems activated on time and under budget often fail to produce their expected results and almost immediately experience major problems. While the statistics are grim, there is at least some good news: This doesn't have to be the case. Organizations often lack the necessary framework to minimize the chance of system failure at three key points: before, during, and after system implementations. Why New Systems Fail provides such a framework with specific tools, tips, and questions from the perspective of a seasoned, independent consultant with more than a decade of related experience. The book examines in great detail the root causes of system failures. Case studies, examples, and lessons from actual system implementations are presented in an informative, straightforward, and very readable manner. More than a theoretical or technical text, the book offers pragmatic advice for organizations both deploying new systems and maintaining existing ones.

Book Reasoning Representation and Process

Download or read book Reasoning Representation and Process written by Rachel Joffe Falmagne and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2015-06-18 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1975, this volume contains original reports of new models and data in the areas of propositional reasoning, syllogistic reasoning, and transitive inference in children and adults of the time. A wide range of theoretical viewpoints is represented, and an effort is made to integrate the models and empirical findings, as well as place them in a common perspective and elucidate the general issues and questions relevant to these various approaches. The study of logical reasoning was undergoing rapid expansion at the time and this volume brings together the latest thinking in the area, in such a way that the relation between Piagetian and non-Piagetian traditions are examined, as well as the connection between the study of reasoning and the area of linguistic inquiry. The discussions of metatheoretical issues, such as the notion of logical competence and separability of representation and logical processing, as regards the various models presented herein, made this volume required reading for all those interested in reasoning in children and adults at the time.

Book Testing the Data Warehouse Practicum

Download or read book Testing the Data Warehouse Practicum written by Wayne Yaddow Doug Vucevic & and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The quality of a data warehouse (DWH) is the elusive aspect of it, not because it is hard to achieve [once we agree what it is], but because it is difficult to describe. We propose the notion that quality is not an attribute or a feature that a product has to possess, but rather a relationship between that product and each and every stakeholder. More specifically, the relationship between the software quality and the organization that produces the products is explored. Quality of data that populates the DWH is the main concern of the book, therefore we propose a definition for data quality as: "fitness to serve each and every purpose". Methods are proposed throughout the book to help readers achieve data warehouse quality.
