Download or read book SOFSEM 99 Theory and Practice of Informatics written by Jan Pavelka and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-31 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This year the SOFSEM conference is coming back to Milovy in Moravia to th be held for the 26 time. Although born as a local Czechoslovak event 25 years ago SOFSEM did not miss the opportunity oe red in 1989 by the newly found freedom in our part of Europe and has evolved into a full-?edged international conference. For all the changes, however, it has kept its generalist and mul- disciplinarycharacter.Thetracksofinvitedtalks, rangingfromTrendsinTheory to Software and Information Engineering, attest to this. Apart from the topics mentioned above, SOFSEM’99 oer s invited talks exploring core technologies, talks tracing the path from data to knowledge, and those describing a wide variety of applications. TherichcollectionofinvitedtalkspresentsonetraditionalfacetofSOFSEM: that of a winter school, in which IT researchers and professionals get an opp- tunity to see more of the large pasture of today’s computing than just their favourite grazing corner. To facilitate this purpose the prominent researchers delivering invited talks usually start with a broad overview of the state of the art in a wider area and then gradually focus on their particular subject.

Download or read book ECOOP 2005 Object Oriented Programming written by Andrew Black and published by Springer. This book was released on 2005-08-25 with total page 648 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 19th Annual Meeting of the European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming—ECOOP 2005—took place during the last week of July in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. This volume includes the refereed technical papers p- sented at the conference, and two invited papers. It is traditional to preface a volume of proceedings such as this with a note that emphasizes the importance of the conference in its respective ?eld. Although such self-evaluations should always be taken with a large grain of salt, ECOOP is undisputedly the pre- inent conference on object-orientation outside of the United States. In its turn, object-orientationis today’s principaltechnology not only for programming, but also for design, analysisand speci?cation of softwaresystems. As a consequence, ECOOP has expanded far beyond its roots in programming to encompass all of these areas of research—whichis why ECOOP has remained such an interesting conference. But ECOOP is more than an interesting conference. It is the nucleus of a technical and academic community, a community whose goals are the creation and dissemination of new knowledge. Chance meetings at ECOOP have helped to spawn collaborations that span the boundaries of our many subdisciplines, bring together researchers and practitioners, cross cultures, and reach from one side of the world to the other. The ubiquity of fast electronic communication has made maintaining these collaborations easier than we would have believed possible only a dozen years ago. But the role of conferences like ECOOP in establishing collaborations has not diminished.

Download or read book Formal Methods in Computer Aided Design written by Mark D. Aagaard and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-30 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the Fourth Biennial Conference on F- mal Methods in Computer-Aided Design (FMCAD). The conference is devoted to the use of mathematical methods for the analysis of digital hardware c- cuits and systems. The workreported in this bookdescribes the use of formal mathematics and associated tools to design and verify digital hardware systems. Functional veri?cation has become one of the principal costs in a modern computer design e?ort. FMCAD provides a venue for academic and industrial researchers and practitioners to share their ideas and experiences of using - screte mathematical modeling and veri?cation. Over the past 20 years, this area has grown from just a few academic researchers to a vibrant worldwide com- nity of people from both academia and industry. This volume includes 23 papers selected from the 47 submitted papers, each of which was reviewed by at least three program committee members. The history of FMCAD dates backto 1984, when the earliest meetings on this topic occurred as part of IFIP WG10.2.

Download or read book Safety of the Intended Functionality written by Juan Pimentel and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2019-03-07 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safety has been ranked as the number one concern for the acceptance and adoption of automated vehicles since safety has driven some of the most complex requirements in the development of self-driving vehicles. Recent fatal accidents involving self-driving vehicles have uncovered issues in the way some automated vehicle companies approach the design, testing, verification, and validation of their products. Traditionally, automotive safety follows functional safety concepts as detailed in the standard ISO 26262. However, automated driving safety goes beyond this standard and includes other safety concepts such as safety of the intended functionality (SOTIF) and multi-agent safety. Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF) addresses the concept of safety for self-driving vehicles through the inclusion of 10 recent and highly relevent SAE technical papers. Topics that these papers feature include the system engineering management approach and redundancy technical approach to safety. As the third title in a series on automated vehicle safety, this contains introductory content by the Editor with 10 SAE technical papers specifically chosen to illuminate the specific safety topic of that book.

Download or read book Rule Interchange and Applications written by Adrian Paschke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-10-15 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2009 International Symposium on Rule Interchange and Applications (RuleML 2009), collocated in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the 12th International Business Rules Forum, was the premier place to meet and to exchange ideas from all ?elds of rules technologies. The aims of RuleML 2009 were both to present new and interesting research results and to show successfully deployed rule-basedapplications.This annualsymposium is the ?agshipevent of the Rule Markup and Modeling Initiative (RuleML). The RuleML Initiative (www.ruleml.org) is a non-pro?t umbrella organi- tion of several technical groups organized by representatives from academia, industry and public sectors working on rule technologies and applications. Its aim is to promote the study, research and application of rules in heterogeneous distributed environments such as the Web. RuleML maintains e?ective links with other major international societies and acts as intermediary between v- ious ‘specialized’ rule vendors, applications, industrial and academic research groups, as well as standardization e?orts from, for example, W3C, OMG, and OASIS. To emphasize the importance of rule standards RuleML 2009 featured, besides a number of tutorials on various rule aspects, a tutorial and a workshop dedicated to the newly released W3C Rule Interchange Format (RIF).
