Download or read book Proceedings of the Third Workshop on PEP II Performance written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three day PEP-II Performance Workshop 2002 was held on January 30 through February 1, 2002. The workshop dealt with the status and operation of the PEP-II B-Factory and possible upgrades to a Super-B-Factory. This workshop was the third in our yearly series. PEP-II has been operating with BaBar since May 1999 and as of the end of January 2002 it had reached a peak luminosity of 4.5 x 1033/cm2/s and had delivered a total of 68fb−1. The workshop topics concentrated on present performance and actions needed to achieve up to a luminosity of 5 x 1033/cm2/s in Summer 2001 and 1033/cm2/s in several years. The workshop was very successful. The issues of the day were discussed and how they may relate to other facilities in particular the KEKB B-factory in Japan and the LHC in Switzerland. Several new topics were raised and what might be done about them.

Book The Second Shell Process Control Workshop

Download or read book The Second Shell Process Control Workshop written by David M. Prett and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-07-10 with total page 697 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Shell Process Control Workshop covers the proceedings of a workshop of the same name, held in Houston, Texas on December 12-16, 1988. The said workshop seeks to improve the communication process between academic researchers, industrial researchers, and the engineering community in the field of process control, and in turn improve understanding of the nature of the control problems. The book covers topics such as automatic tuning and adaptive control; an operator control theory approach to the shell standard control problem; discrete time-adaptive predictive control; and the designing of a control system. Also included are topics such as optimal control and model identification; fundamental process control; statistical process control; and interfaces with process control. The text is recommended for researchers and practitioners in the field of engineering who would like to know more about process control and modeling.

Book Physics with an Electron Polarized Light Ion Collider

Download or read book Physics with an Electron Polarized Light Ion Collider written by Richard G. Milner and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2001-10-05 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last several years, physicists interested in understanding the structure of matter at the fundamental partonic (quark and lepton) level have come to realize that an electron-ion collider can address many of the outstanding questions in hadronic physics. In Summer 2000, a new Long Range Planning Exercise was announced for nuclear physics in the United States, and the proponents of an electron-ion collider came together to make the scientific case for this machine. This workshop summarizes the physics case and machine design for a next generation facility to study the fundamental structure of hadrons. Topics include: Spin and flavor structure of the nucleon, semi-exclusive processes, heavy quarks/target fragmentation, e-A physics, and machine.
