It reviews the status of the bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus) in the eastern Canadian Arctic, using data from satellite-linked telemetry and aerial surveys. It examines abundance indices and harvest statistics for the eastern Hudson Bay beluga, and data from aerial surveys for the western Hudson Bay beluga. Finally, it reviews the status of the harp seal (Phoca groenlandicus) in Atlantic Canada, using by-catch estimates, estimates of human-induced mortality, and pup production; examines pup production, abundance, and harvesting data for the grey seal (Halichoerus grypus); and discusses prey and population dynamics among killer whales (Orcinus orca) of British Columbia.
