Book Proceedings of the 33rd International MATADOR Conference

Download or read book Proceedings of the 33rd International MATADOR Conference written by David R. Hayhurst and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: by Conference Chairman n1 It is my pleasure to introduce this volume of Proceedings for the 33 MATADOR Conference. The Proceedings include 83 refereed papers submitted from 19 countries on 4 continents. 00 The spread of papers in this volume reflects four developments since the 32 MATADOR Conference in 1997: (i) the power of information technology to integrate the management and control of manufacturing systems; (ii) international manufacturing enterprises; (iii) the use of computers to integrate different aspects of manufacturing technology; and, (iv) new manufacturing technologies. New developments in the manufacturing systems area are globalisation and the use of the Web to achieve virtual enterprises. In manufacturing technology the potential of the following processes is being realised: rapid proto typing, laser processing, high-speed machining, and high-speed machine tool design. And, at the same time in the area of controls and automation, the flexibility and integration ability of open architecture computer controllers are creating a wide range of opportunities for novel solutions. Up-to-date research results in these and other areas are presented in this volume. The Proceedings reflect the truly international nature of this Conference and the way in which original research results are both collected and disseminated. The volume does not, however, record the rich debate and extensive scientific discussion which took place during the Conference. I trust that you will find this volume to be a permanent record of some of the research carried out in the last two years; and.

Book Advances in Machine Tool Design and Research 1967

Download or read book Advances in Machine Tool Design and Research 1967 written by S. A. Tobias and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Machine Tool Design and Research 1967, Part I covers the proceedings of the 8th International M.T.D.R. conference (incorporating the 2nd international CIRP production engineering research conference) held in the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology on September 1967. The book covers the accuracy of automatically controlled machine tools; the influence of the rigidity of the machine-workpiece-tool system on the roughness of the machined surface; and the analysis of machine tool structure by computing techniques. The text also discusses sensors of tool life for optimization of machining; pre-set tooling and its application; and system 24, a new concept of manufacture. The design of hydrostatic journal bearings; the computer approach for storage of machinability data and calculation of machining costs and production rates; and a comparison of different measuring and indicating methods for the determination of pitch errors of large precision gears are also encompassed. The book further presents the calibration of tool/work thermocouples, as well as the effect of tool flank wear on the temperatures generated during metal cutting.

Book Computational Methods for Predicting Material Processing Defects

Download or read book Computational Methods for Predicting Material Processing Defects written by M. Predeleanu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this book deal with computational methods for predicting material processing defects. Using recent advances in finite strain plasticity and viscoplasticity, damage modelling, bifurcation and instability theory, fracture mechanics and computer numerical techniques, new approaches to mechanical defect analysis are proposed. Appropriate methods for explaining and avoiding the defects leading to fracture, high porosity, strain localization or undesirable geometrical imperfections are presented. In addition, some papers are devoted to new formulations and new calculation algorithms to be used for solving the forming problems. Finally, two papers deal with physical description of defects occurring in forming and cutting operations, focusing on the academic and practical interest of these topics. This is the first book to deal with the prediction of defects occurring in material forming processes; it contains much of interest from both a theoretical and a practical viewpoint.
