Download or read book Trace Elements in Man and Animals 6 written by Lucille S. Hurley and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 686 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the published proceedings of the Sixth International Symposium on Trace Element Metabolism in Man and Animals. The Symposium was held at the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, California, U.S.A. from May 31 through June 5, 1987. The decision to hold TEMA-6 at Asilomar was made at TEMA-5 in 1985. The International Guidance Committee decided to hold the meeting in California in part to recognize the significant cont~i butions made to the field of trace element metabolism by Professor Lucille S. Hurley. As such, she was the obvious choice as chair of the local organ izing committee. One of the principal goals of Professor Hurley was that TEMA-6 serve as a forum for discussing the use and application of newer methodologies, such as molecular biology, computer modelling and stable isotopes, in studies of trace element metabolism. Based on the comments which the local organizing committee has received, this goal was achieved. The Symposium was attended by 275 scientists from 32 countries covering 6 continents. Twenty-five speakers were chosen for our plenary sessions.
Download or read book Advances in Agronomy written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2004-07-10 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Agronomy continues to be recognized as a leading reference and a first-rate source of the latest research in agronomy. Major reviews deal with the current topics of interest to agronomists, as well as crop and soil scientists. As always, the subjects covered are varied and exemplary of the myriad subject matter dealt with by this long-running serial. Editor Donald Sparks, former president of the Soil Science Society of America and current president of the International Union of Soil Science, is the S. Hallock du Pont Chair of Plant and Soil Sciences at The University of Delaware. Volume 84 contains six excellent reviews that discuss topics critical to agricultural and environmental sustainability.* Maintains the highest impact factor among serial publications in Agriculture * Presents timely reviews on important agronomy issues * Enjoys a long-standing reputation for excellence in the field

Download or read book Equine Nutrition and Feeding written by David Frape and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the first edition of Equine Nutrition and Feeding was published in 1986, it has become the standard work on the subject, covering every aspect of the nutrition of breeding, growing and working horses, and describing the basis upon which scientifically derived conclusions for nutrition and dietary requirements are reached. The book has been extensively updated, revised and rewritten with a full bibliography and reference list. It has been made more practical by setting out the implications of new research for feeding programmes and it includes a full account of the toxicology, and metabolic and other diseases, related to diet. Their causes and control are discussed and comprehensive lists of definitions of terms and the abbreviations used are given.
Download or read book Mineral Nutrition of Livestock 5th Edition written by Neville F. Suttle and published by CABI. This book was released on 2022-05-30 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fifth edition of this important book reviews recent advances in livestock mineral nutrition, updated throughout with new references that reflect the growing complexity of mineral metabolism. Major related themes covered include the assessment of the 'mineral value' of feeds, the false hopes placed on organic mineral supplements and limiting the 'mineral footprint' of livestock production to lower environmental pollution. Following a clear and easy to reference structure, the book also considers potential pitfalls, such as misleading estimates of mineral requirements for growth, and misinterpretation of genomic markers for mineral requirements and bioavailability of supplements. An essential resource for researchers and students in animal nutrition, agriculture and veterinary medicine, this book also forms a useful reference for veterinary practitioners and those concerned with human nutrition and environmental protection.
