Book Sensing and Control for Autonomous Vehicles

Download or read book Sensing and Control for Autonomous Vehicles written by Thor I. Fossen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-05-26 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume includes thoroughly collected on sensing and control for autonomous vehicles. Guidance, navigation and motion control systems for autonomous vehicles are increasingly important in land-based, marine and aerial operations. Autonomous underwater vehicles may be used for pipeline inspection, light intervention work, underwater survey and collection of oceanographic/biological data. Autonomous unmanned aerial systems can be used in a large number of applications such as inspection, monitoring, data collection, surveillance, etc. At present, vehicles operate with limited autonomy and a minimum of intelligence. There is a growing interest for cooperative and coordinated multi-vehicle systems, real-time re-planning, robust autonomous navigation systems and robust autonomous control of vehicles. Unmanned vehicles with high levels of autonomy may be used for safe and efficient collection of environmental data, for assimilation of climate and environmental models and to complement global satellite systems. The target audience primarily comprises research experts in the field of control theory, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.

Download or read book Networked Control Systems written by Alberto Bemporad and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-10-14 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book nds its origin in the WIDE PhD School on Networked Control Systems, which we organized in July 2009 in Siena, Italy. Having gathered experts on all the aspects of networked control systems, it was a small step to go from the summer school to the book, certainly given the enthusiasm of the lecturers at the school. We felt that a book collecting overviewson the important developmentsand open pr- lems in the eld of networked control systems could stimulate and support future research in this appealing area. Given the tremendouscurrentinterests in distributed control exploiting wired and wireless communication networks, the time seemed to be right for the book that lies now in front of you. The goal of the book is to set out the core techniques and tools that are ava- able for the modeling, analysis and design of networked control systems. Roughly speaking, the book consists of three parts. The rst part presents architectures for distributed control systems and models of wired and wireless communication n- works. In particular, in the rst chapter important technological and architectural aspects on distributed control systems are discussed. The second chapter provides insight in the behavior of communication channels in terms of delays, packet loss and information constraints leading to suitable modeling paradigms for commu- cation networks.

Book Hybrid Feedback Control

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ricardo G. Sanfelice
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2021-01-12
  • ISBN : 0691180229
  • Pages : 420 pages

Download or read book Hybrid Feedback Control written by Ricardo G. Sanfelice and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Hybrid systems are those that-unlike classical systems-exhibit both discrete changes, or "jumps", and continuous changes, or "flow." The canonical example of a hybrid system is a bouncing ball: the ball's speed changes continuously between bounces, but there is a discrete jump in velocity each time the ball impacts the ground. Hybrid systems feature widely across disciplines, including in biology, computer science, and mechanical engineering; examples range from fireflies to self-driving cars. Although classical control theory provides powerful tools for analyzing systems that exhibit either flow or jumps, it is ill-equipped to handle hybrid systems, which feature both behaviors. In Hybrid Feedback Control, Ricardo Sanfelice presents a self-contained introduction to the control of hybrid systems, and develops new tools for their design and analysis. This monograph uses hybrid systems notation to present a new, unified control theory framework, thus filling an important gap in the control theory literature. In addition to presenting this theoretical framework, the book also includes a variety of examples and exercises, a Matlab toolbox, and a summary at the beginning of each chapter. The book was originally used in a series of lectures on the topic, and will find a modest amount of crossover course use. The book will also find use outside the field of control, particularly in dynamical systems theory, applied mathematics, and computer science"--
