Book excerpt: Ce travail s'inscrit dans le cadre de la génération d'hydrogène par reformage non catalytique de combustibles, à haute température, en vue de l'alimentation d'une pile à combustible H2/02 de type PEM pour une application transport. Il constitue une alternative à l'utilisation de catalyseurs. Le reformage thermique proposé supprime les problèmes d'empoisonnement et de formation de coke liés aux systèmes catalytiques de reformage et permet dans le même temps de réaliser un système de reformage acceptant tous types de combustibles, sans avoir à adapter un catalyseur aux molécules de combustibles à reformer. La comparaison des différentes filières de production d'hydrogène (oxydation partielle, vapo-reformage et vapo-reformage autotherme) est effectuée à partir des contraintes imposées par la pile PEM et des résultats de calculs sur les réactions stoechiométriques. Elle aboutit au choix du vapo-reformage hybride (VRH), bien adapté aux caractéristiques de la pile PEM et permettant une optimisation énergétique du système constitué par le reformeur et la pile PEM. L'utilisation d'un modèle de cinétique chimique adapté au VRH du propane permet de déterminer les niveaux de température et les temps de séjour nécessaires pour réaliser la réaction de VRH sans catalyseur et pour éviter la persistance de méthane, d'hydrocarbures non méthaniques et d'hydrocarbures polycycliques aromatiques dans le mélange riche en hydrogène. A partir de ces résultats, une procédure de définition d'un reformeur non catalytique est donnée et est appliquée pour la conception d'une première maquette de VRH de propane. Les résultats expérimentaux obtenus sur une maquette (composition volumique, températures du reformat et des parois) sont présentés et comparés aux résultats des calculs effectués lors de la phase de conception.

On the name of the Scientific Community, I would like to express the wish that this International Symposium on SSF should be successful. Solid State Fermentation is part of biotechnology research. It consists on seeding solid culture medium with bacteria or fungi (filamentous or higher) and on producing, in this medium (solid components and exudates) metabolites and high value products. In fact, this process is very old. In older industries such the food and agricultural, this technique has been extensively used. An example of this is the production of pork sausages and Roquefort cheese. Pharmaceutical industry could make extensive use of SSF in the production of secondary metabolites of many kinds and development in this direction is soon expected.

In other disciplines knowledge about surface properties and the background of bonding energies is also far from satisfactory; nevertheless there are many important· applications in concrete engineering, where adhesion is necessary for success and durability. One of the results of the committee's work is a state-of-the-art report, which will be presented orally as a General Report at the International Symposium ISAP '86, and will be printed either in the RILEM journal Materials and Structures or separately. Several test recommendations have been elaborated and will be prepared as drafts for the participants ofISAP '86. These are: - direct tensile test - pull-off test - direct shear test - slant shear test - four-point bending test - dynamic loading test - thermal compatibility test (two versions) - injectibility test.
