Download or read book Molecular Properties V2 written by Walter Lovenberg and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular Properties, Volume II is a collection of papers that deals with the physical and chemical properties of iron-sulfur proteins, with emphasis on the theory and application of physicochemical techniques related to metalloproteins. One paper describes the chemical properties of simple iron-sulfur proteins focusing on chloroplast, bacterial-type ferredoxins, and the nature of the active site in the ferredoxins. Another paper notes that rubredoxin sequences can offer phylogenetic, evolutionary, or genetic data. The paper shows that rubredoxins from aerobic and anaerobic bacteria have originated from some common ancestor. One paper analyzes the chemical and physical properties of rubredoxin and the way they relate to the structure resulting from an X-ray diffraction. The investigator can use electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) spectroscopy, or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to determine the structural and functional features of simple and conjugated iron-sulfur proteins. He can also use a proton magnetic resonance (PMR) spectroscopy to study the structures and interactions of proteins in solution, such as ribonuclease, lysozyme, and the heme proteins (hemoglobins or myoglobins). Cellular biologists, micro-biologists, bio-chemists, and scientists involved in biological systems research will find this collection very informative.

Book excerpt: ASP.NET's model for supporting language extensibility is intriguing to developers everywhere. With support for traditional, statically compiled languages like C# as well as dynamic languages like Python, ASP.NET now has a natural ability to support languages that developers want to work with, not ones they are forced to use. ASP.NET is quickly becoming an attractive place for today's dynamic languages. Pro ASP.NET Extensibility gives readers in–depth insight into the language model within ASP.NET, going beyond the introductory treatment of the topic available elsewhere, providing lots of practical tips and tricks from an experienced developer. Learn about the extensibility and runtime models available with both .NET 3.5 and 4.0, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, and Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 and 7.0. The book explains not only how things work, but also why. Using Joerg Krause's experienced advice and sound tricks, you'll be able to go further with your very own language projects and transform your .NET development on your own terms—made possible with ASP.NET's popular extensibility model. Discover how ASP.NET is extensible in .NET 3.5 and 4.0. Look in–depth into the internals of ASP.NET page processing. Customize the behavior of the ASP.NET engine.

Book Genetics Development and Evolution

Download or read book Genetics Development and Evolution written by J. Perry Gustafson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One outstanding question in biology is the problem of devel opment: how the genetic instructions encoded in the DNA become expressed in the morphological, physiological, and behavioral features of multicellular organisms, through an ordered sequence of events that extend from the first cell division of the zygote to the adult stage and eventual death. The problem is how a one dimensional array of instructions is transformed into a four dimensional entity, the organism that exists in space and time. Understanding this transformation is, nevertheless, necessary for mastering the process of evolution. One hundred and twenty-five years after The Origin of Species, we have gained some understanding of evolution at the genetic level. Genetic information is stored in the linear sequence of nucleotides in the DNA. Gene mutations, chromosomal reorganiza tions, and a host of related processes introduce variation in the sequence and the amount of DNA. The fate of these variations is determined by interactions within the genome and with the outside environment that are largely understood. We have recently gained a glimpse of how the genome of eukaryotes is organized and will learn much more about it in the future, now that we have the research tools for it.

Book Amino Acids Peptides and Proteins

Download or read book Amino Acids Peptides and Proteins written by R C Sheppard and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
