Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where do I begin with this review? I think I should take my sisters advice and repeat what she often tells me: If I cant say amen, just say ouch. Keeping that in mind, Im over here saying ouch because author Toni L. Wortherly is on my toe stomping pretty hard with this petite but powerful book. As a single Christian woman combating some of the issues of loneliness and frustration associated with living a single life, this book speaks volumes to me. There is nothing like reading what youre going through to let the reader know they are not alone on this journey. As Ive pledged my life to following the tenants of my faith, its good to have confirmation, in the form of a book, which I can reference from time to time. Ill admit that Im not crazy about the title; I dont like to be referred to as prey or as the hunted. The Word of God says: He that finds a wife, finds a good thing so a loose translation would mean that I am prey. I would hope that my mate wouldnt refer to me in this manner. The translation would also imply that Im weak or defenseless; I feel that Im a strong vessel, who patiently awaits capture. Pray While Youre Prey is a great read for single women. Those of us who have the desire to be spiritually grounded in all that we do, can draw strength from the scripture, interpretation and study questions found at the end of each chapter. This is a book to share with your entire cadre of single sister friends as we journey down the path to closeness with God and the quest to be a virtuous woman and wife.

Book excerpt: High Stakes, Deep Faith, and Unbreakable Brotherhood They were the first No. 1 seed in NFL history to enter the playoffs as an underdog. Their star quarterback was out with a season-ending knee injury. Five-time Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots towered over them. But public opinion didn't matter to the Philadelphia Eagles. They believed in each other. The band of Christian brothers on the team believed in the God of the impossible, and they played for an audience of One. The most extensive book to explore the Christian faith shared by many of the team's players, Birds of Pray details the incredible inside story behind the Eagles' capture of the biggest prize in professional sports: the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Through exclusive interviews with the players, never-before-seen photos, and insider accounts of the miracle season's most memorable moments, Philly native and Associated Press sportswriter Rob Maaddi reveals a side of the team the world has yet to fully witness. From an impromptu baptism in the team's cold tub to weekly Bible studies and pre-game prayers, to the unique friendship between star quarterback Carson Wentz and back-up-then-MVP Nick Foles - the Eagles excel in the unexpected. Birds of Pray follows the deep faith shared among players, the high stakes they faced together, and their relentless reliance on Christ who gives all strength in moments of crisis and celebration alike. The result is a boldly inspiring, entertaining read that will challenge readers to go deeper in their faith, dream bigger, and live with renewed courage for whatever odds life stacks against them.

Download or read book Prey written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why are so few people talking about the eruption of sexual violence and harassment in Europe’s cities? No one in a position of power wants to admit that the problem is linked to the arrival of several million migrants—most of them young men—from Muslim-majority countries. In Prey, the best-selling author of Infidel, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, presents startling statistics, criminal cases and personal testimony. Among these facts: In 2014, sexual violence in Western Europe surged following a period of stability. In 2018 Germany, “offences against sexual self-determination” rose 36 percent from their 2014 rate; nearly two-fifths of the suspects were non-German. In Austria in 2017, asylum-seekers were suspects in 11 percent of all reported rapes and sexual harassment cases, despite making up less than 1 percent of the total population. This violence isn’t a figment of alt-right propaganda, Hirsi Ali insists, even if neo-Nazis exaggerate it. It’s a real problem that Europe—and the world—cannot continue to ignore. She explains why so many young Muslim men who arrive in Europe engage in sexual harassment and violence, tracing the roots of sexual violence in the Muslim world from institutionalized polygamy to the lack of legal and religious protections for women. A refugee herself, Hirsi Ali is not against immigration. As a child in Somalia, she suffered female genital mutilation; as a young girl in Saudi Arabia, she was made to feel acutely aware of her own vulnerability. Immigration, she argues, requires integration and assimilation. She wants Europeans to reform their broken system—and for Americans to learn from European mistakes. If this doesn’t happen, the calls to exclude new Muslim migrants from Western countries will only grow louder. Deeply researched and featuring fresh and often shocking revelations, Prey uncovers a sexual assault and harassment crisis in Europe that is turning the clock on women’s rights much further back than the #MeToo movement is advancing it.

Book Pray While You re Prey Devotions

Download or read book Pray While You re Prey Devotions written by Toni Wortherly and published by . This book was released on 2018-06-27 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the book, "Pray While You're Prey: How God Turned my Loneliness and Frustration into Contentment and Commitment," this weekly devotion provides a year-long uplifting look through Scripture during seasons of singleness, bringing encouragement to you and others while honoring God.When I submitted the Pray While You're Prey Devotions for Singles to the Bible app, they suggested breaking it up into 7 week-long plans. Now, as I publish them as a book, I thought, "Will people commit to these devotions for year?" Here's the answer that dropped in my spirit: "It's a commitment. And isn't that what the people who read these devotions want? We should prepare for commitment by practicing commitment." Pray While You're Prey and the Pray While You're Prey Devotions are not how-to-get-a-mate guides. They are a manifestation of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: shared experiences to help comfort others who are going through this season in the way God has comforted me.You could read them in 52 days or 52 minutes, if you are so inclined, but for maximum impact, I suggest meditating on each devotion for a week. In my personal Bible studies, I have found that I get more understanding the longer I sit with the lesson, pray about the lesson and listen to what God has to say. Doing this has taken my ability to commit to new levels. In addition to the devotions that were on the YouVersion Bible app, this book has extra devotions, as well as, journaling space to encourage you to truly seek God and record His answers and insights in this season. And remember, if you are in a relationship or start a relationship while reading this book, don't stop reading, praying and meditating because the journey is just beginning. And, the ultimate goal is building a stronger relationship with Christ. God bless you and keep you!
