Book Analytical Chemistry of Minerals

Download or read book Analytical Chemistry of Minerals written by Anatoliĭ Ivanovich Samchuk and published by VSP. This book was released on 1987 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis of rocks and minerals often requires a specific approach, especially when determining rare and scattered elements, the content of which can be extremely low. This volume presents the main principles of analytical techniques most commonly used in the determination of the chemical composition of minerals and rocks. Special attention is given to methodological features and analytical schemes of various minerals, methods of mineral stripping and use of hybrid methods of analysis.

Book Characterization of Minerals Metals and Materials 2021

Download or read book Characterization of Minerals Metals and Materials 2021 written by Jian Li and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-16 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection focuses on the advancements of characterization of minerals, metals, and materials and the applications of characterization results on the processing of these materials. Advanced characterization methods, techniques, and new instruments are emphasized. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: · Novel methods and techniques for characterizing materials across a spectrum of systems and processes. · Characterization of mechanical, thermal, electrical, optical, dielectric, magnetic, physical, and other properties of materials. · Characterization of structural, morphological, and topographical natures of materials at micro- and nano- scales. · Characterization of extraction and processing including process development and analysis. · Advances in instrument developments for microstructure analysis and performance evaluation of materials, such as computer tomography (CT), X-ray and neutron diffraction, electron microscopy (SEM, FIB, TEM), and spectroscopy (EDS, WDS, EBSD) techniques. · 2D and 3D modelling for materials characterization. The book explores scientific processes to characterize materials using modern technologies, and focuses on the interrelationships and interdependence among processing, structure, properties, and performance of materials.

Book Sampling and Sample Preparation

Download or read book Sampling and Sample Preparation written by Markus Stoeppler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The significant progress achieved in modern instrumental analysis has led to a continuous lowering of detection limits and improved precision. This should in principle permit the reliable and extremely precise analysis of trace compounds mainly trace elements, at levels down to the lowest natural concentrations. However, the frequently observed very high discrepancies between the analyt ical results of different laboratories as well as the deviations from true values are, regrettably, still common in analytical practice. Basic methodological errors at the determination step can usually be minimized or even avoided by carefully per formed quality control measures - e. g. by interlaboratory comparisons and the proper use of certified reference materials. The most severe and often under estimated error sources, however, are those connected with the whole and often extremely complex sampling process, and also to a lesser extent, with sample pre paration prior to analysis. Thus, for these initial steps of an analytical procedure particular experience is needed, as well as a detailed knowledge of the interrela tions between these steps, which always have to be applied with the utmost care. In collaboration with a number of very experienced colleagues working in dif book has tried to contribute to a better ferent research areas, the editor of this understanding of these particular error sources and how they can be overcome in a series of training courses held during the last decade at the "Haus der Technik", Essen, Germany.

Book Physicochemical Methods of Mineral Analysis

Download or read book Physicochemical Methods of Mineral Analysis written by A. Nicol and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has developed from a short residential course organised by the Department of Minerals Engineering and the Department of Extra Mural Studies of the University of Birmingham. The course was concerned mainly with physical methods of analysis of minerals and mineral products, and particular regard was given to 'non-destructive' methods, with special emphasis on newly available techniques but with a review of older methods and their recent developments included therein. Mineral analysis is obviously of great importance in all the stages of mineral exploration, processing, and utilisation. Selection of a method for a particular mineral or mineral product will depend upon a number of factors, primarily whether an elementary analysis or a phase or structure analysis is required. It will also depend upon the accuracy required. The chapters in the book covering the different methods show the range of useful applicability of the methods considered and should prove valuable as an aid or methods for a given set of circumstances. in selecting a suitable method The book, referring as it does to the majority of the instrumental methods available today (as well as, for comparison, a useful contribution on the place of classical wet chemical analysis) will be valuable to the student as well as to those analysts, research workers, and process engineers who are concerned with the winning, processing, and utilisation of minerals and mineral products.
